I will explain this properly because tgis place has a few good points but I have to agree with some of the less impressed people.... Most of the staff are nice but I encountered a very rude one recently & the waiting time for a coffee some days is rather lengthy even when they aren't busy. Not long ago I went in to order a coffee & there was 3 people in front of me, they ordered then someone dropped a glass & all of a sudden service stopped and the guy went to prepare a drink. When I asked about who was going to take my order I was told that "Somebody dropped a glass." There were 5 people behind the counter including the waiter who dropped the glass. It just isn't the type of place for Lygon St. I used to shop there several times a day so I certainly don't expect that. Not over a glass that one person could easily take care of alone. This wasn't the first time. I know that in some establishments it is accepted for the staff to take their time & leave the customer wait because they are there so they're going to order regardless of what happens but this particular area simply isn't used to that kind if service & never will be. As I said, most of the people are usually reasonably nice but the one I encountered recently was a shocking exception & I think the service needs a lot of work, it comes down to the training. Unfortunately it is more like one of those "hipster" type establishments & that's never really a good thing in a very historic...
Read moreOverall food is mediocre, coffee is good and staff are inconsistent (ranging from polite to totally unpleasant). Hot chocolates are very good but $5.80 - for a hot chocolate this price is unbelievable. Have gotten the falafel roll which was big, but lacking in flavour and very dry as there was too much thick falafel with little sauce. The staff at Heart Attack are sometimes nice, but for as many nice team members there are unpleasant ones. Some will never smile or greet appropriately (i.e. ask how are you), while some staff are blatantly rude. When ordering, sometimes it feels like you have done something to offend the staff and that by serving you, you are inconveniencing them. When I dined in once, I changed my mind about ordering a coffee when my partner received his and asked if I could have the same. The waiters reply was that "I asked before if you wanted something and you said you had already ordered". He made this out to be an issue when I had simply changed my mind, and his condescension ruined our experience to be frank. Food needs refining and staff need to be taught how to engage in polite conversation without...
Read moreWe had an awful experience here. I've never left review but the staff who had blonde hair made me feel like I have to write something. I read through reviews about this restaurant and found someone who had a same thought like ours as well. As a person who also works in the hospitality industry, I do not understand the staff who served us. When we ordered coffee and food, she didn't even respond and snatched the menu and walked away. When she brought them, she never smiled, never talked, just put coffee and food on our table in a very rude and arrogant way. We never got annoyed at restaurants even in New York where sassy people work. But she nailed it. We chose to go there because it seemed cool. But maybe she thought she was way too cool to work there. Then honey. You should find another job... I also have good days and bad days at work but I've never showed my own feeling towards my customers because they come to get a good service. She wasn't there for volunteering. We never would go back there but just want to say if you decided to work there, please be...
