The bar maid was doing an amazing job and I ordered a weak flat white and a skim cap ( these have been our staple coffee order for 30 years and it never changes ) - but also ordered a lemon lime bitters and paid cash, but didnt get a receipt. she said to come back in a few minutes and it would be ready at the bar, so I did wait several minutes, but when I came back to the bar, she was caught up serving a host of other customers; (all good no problem) - she then called another barman from somewhere else and and told him to make me a " skinny flat white and skim cap " and I corrected her and reminded her it was a weak flat white ( not a skim flat white ) and the other drinks were a skim cap & lemon lime bitters . So he asked her if it was paid for to which he said yes, and then he went back and made drinks and gave it to us . Unfortunately he made a latte instead of the skim cap and when the person with me said they couldn't drink the latte due to dietary issues I took it back to the bar and told him we didnt order a latte. However he got agitated and said he would bet his life on it that I said latte . I told him I didn't want an argument or anything ( but he got all agitated and I felt intimidated). I asked the girl to confirm that I didnt order a latte (which she did confirm). I asked her to find the receipt which she did, (but while she was finding it he walked past and told her not to worry about it). But she got it for me. The guy was very unprofessional especially as I was older. Maybe he didnt respect older people of color like me or maybe he was just naturally aggressive but it made us feel threatened and uncomfortable. This one star review is not because he might have got the orders mixed up or if I said Latte or not- it is about how he dealt with it - a very unprofessional staff member on the day dressed with unruly long hair and baseball cap backwards in black. Counselling in dealing with elderly customers is reccomended. The female barmaid was very professional and has assistant manager...
Read moreGoogled Pub Poker for something to do Saturday 22nd October, 2023.
I played in the first competition and it was fun however the 2nd was a nightmare. The conduct allowed in the 2nd session is atrocious.
I'm calling on the venue to do something about an elderly gentleman.
The elderly gentleman in question kept antagonising a couple and the table until the Couple couldn't handle it anymore. We he incited the reaction he wanted. Which was complete hostility and tension you couldn't breathe near. He began calling the male of the couple slurs until the young male chirped back with slurs. Gaining the reaction he provoked to then threaten to punch the young male in the head in front of his gf.
THREATEN ASSAULT. WHICH IS ASSAULT.
I trying to be a good Samaritan try to cool the situation and speak to the host unbiasedly that both were wrong on there insults equally. The elderly gentleman started the provocation and then threatened violence. To which the couple got split and I was left sitting next to the elderly man.
Which he walks off only to return to tell me he will remember me and so on and make me feel unsafe.
The elderly gentleman must be a regular as he was overly familiar with the host.
I would never recommend anyone to have to sit through and be subjugated to that treatment.
The elderly gentleman should have been removed after the threat of assault. But he is going on non stop how the couple should be banned. While he also threatened me through insinuation. A person who has a mobility impairment.
Disgusting, Appalling and Atrocious conduct allowed to go on at this venue.
I'm calling on the Venue to look at the CCTV and look for the elderly gentleman with his wife adjacent standing to his left next to a younger couple. If this is not nipped in the bud. If they are regulars. This could lead to a future situation where another unsuspecting person or vulnerable person is threatened or assaulted by this...
Read moreI came all the way from the South East side of Melbourne for the first time to Highpoint Hotel to watch the Superbowl with the boys. I must say, it lined up to be an amazing Superbowl with super friendly and personable staff (big ups to Carl and Hayley for going above and beyond, to the point our table gave thanks and have them a round of applause at the end) however I give 3 stars for atmosphere because you had it all, big screen, Great setup so all seats have a view of the screens..but ..the sound just let us all down. For a sports bar to not have the game playing loud, pregame entertainment, broadcasters comments during the game and halftime show was just lack lustre and was the sour point for all of us there. Even if you guys have PAs for special events to have it play loud that will be the missing piece to cap of the experience we all want. If not we can just stay home and create our own experience..honestly guys, that just made it a poor experience, and it then also disconnected us from enjoying the game, from getting Into the game and cheering loud etc.. it was a sour point for all of us. But look, great promotion with the brekky burger wings and beers, love the Merch table from the local gridiron team, great raffle (that was fun and our table won a couple of items) ...it just needed to be louder. Please guys look into this. Unfortunately that may be our last Superbowl at Highpoint Hotel as we continue our search for a venue that has the atmosphere we are after but I hope we may someday pop our head in for another event and be...
