Staff and customers are asked to maintain social distancing and wear masks in -store and there were still limits to the number of customers permitted in -store at any given time. Great bargains to be had in-store if you monitor the regular hard copy sales catalogue distributed by stores within local neighbourhoods or if you prefer browsing online, then visit their website to check out what's on sale, etc. Recommend using in-store shopping if after specific items as there are many clearance/discontinued items which are NOT advertised, therefore it pays to browse in store if you know exactly what you want/need. Highly recommend that customers who shop regularly join the free Spotlight Member Club for additional savings, discount coupons, etc. Spotlight accept Visa Card, MasterCard, Zip Pay, Afterpay, Spotlight Gift cards, and of course cash is accepted but contactless payments are preferred at this time. To buy more costly items, Layby is available, but suggest you check with individual stores for any potential variations/exceptions. Most Spotlight staff are friendly and helpful and the specialty staff (e.g. sewing) are usually quite knowledgeable, which is a great help to any inexperienced customers attempting projects in one or more of the many arts/craft activities that...
Read moreProducts here are what you expect for a spotlight. However, my disappointment stems from the lack of customer service. I came into the store to refund an item (which is well within my consumer rights) that I had mistakenly thought was something else. So I walk into the store, the lady at the counter sees me, briefly looks down at the item in my arms, puts her hand on her hip and stares at me. I approached slowly to see if she would greet but she continues to stare at me. I say "hello, could I please have a refund for this item?". And she asks "what's wrong with it?" to which I respond "Nothing, I had read the wrong thing on package" and she scoffs at me like I'm an idiot. Sure, I could've been more thorough but it was an honest mistake. So I ask her "Are you upset that I came in here for a refund?" and she looks at me and says "oh no" with an apathetic attitude. We proceed with the transaction and I leave feeling abused.
I don't like to name and shame however, this behavior is highly unacceptable. The name on the receipt is Joyce, I found her demeanor extremely unpleasant and uncomfortable to deal with. Seems like a general vibe in this store that people don't want to be here but Joyce's attitude tops the lot. Good luck if you ever want to refund...
Read moreMy mother had a big shoulder operation and needed assisted chopsticks for part of her OT rehab exercise.
I rang the Taylor Lakes branch and they didnt carry it. They told me to ring Maribyrnong, I was literally calling and put on hold for 30 mins with 3 operators telling me that they were transferring me to the right department.
I was so stressed and felt so tired and was trying to drive down to the shop instead and try my luck. I totally understand the store were busy and it is nobody's fault. I just wanted to get it sorted for mum ASAP.
I came in Spotlight Maribyrong, and this young lady "Shelby" already got the various assisted chopsticks at the counter, waiting for me.
I could see how busy she was at the register, service another customer, while trying to give me a big warm smile.
I nearly broke down in tears as I have been so stressed over mum's surgery and hospital trips and "Shelby" little acts of kindness, was something that really really moved and touched me.
Thank you so much team Spotlight Maribyrnong! Thank YOU Shelby for going beyond your duty to make my life a bit...
