I don’t usually leave reviews, but after multiple consistently great experiences at GYG Highpoint, I felt compelled to share just how fantastic this place is. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with vibrant energy, friendly faces, and the irresistible aroma of fresh Mexican food being prepared with care. It’s honestly one of the best fast-casual dining experiences I’ve had — not just at Highpoint, but anywhere!
The food is phenomenal. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu at this point — from their classic burritos and burrito bowls to their nachos, quesadillas, and tacos — and every single item has been delicious. The ingredients are always fresh, the flavors bold, and the portions generous. Their pulled pork is unbelievably tender, the grilled chicken is full of flavor, and the slow-cooked beef has a richness that tastes like it’s been simmering for hours. Not to mention, their guacamole is some of the best I’ve ever had — creamy, zesty, and just the right texture.
What I really appreciate is how GYG caters to all kinds of dietary needs. Whether you’re after something vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or just want to eat clean, there’s something for everyone. And you don’t have to sacrifice flavor — their “Clean” range is super tasty and satisfying.
Service at GYG Highpoint is consistently top-notch. The staff are upbeat, efficient, and genuinely seem to care about the customer experience. Orders are prepared quickly, and they always double-check to make sure everything is right. Even when it’s busy, the team handles the rush with professionalism and good vibes.
The store itself is always clean, modern, and inviting. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or hanging out with friends for a casual meal, the seating area is comfortable and the atmosphere has that cool GYG vibe — upbeat music, warm lighting, and that colorful Mexican-inspired design.
Another thing worth mentioning is how convenient and reliable their ordering system is. I’ve used the app and self-serve kiosks and found both to be super intuitive and fast. The ability to customize your order down to every little detail is such a great feature, and I always appreciate how it lets me tailor meals exactly how I like them.
In short, GYG Highpoint has become my go-to spot for lunch, dinner, or even a quick snack on the go. It’s rare to find a place that nails consistency, quality, service, and atmosphere all at once, but this team does it every time. Whether you’re a longtime GYG fan or trying it for the first time, you can’t go wrong here.
Highly recommend! 5/5...
Read moreGenerally, I like GYG but like many, I treat it as a bit of indulgence, because it can be expensive. In saying that, my friend and I decided to "indulge" in GYG last night for dinner. I have had a career as a hospitality professional for more than 20+ years, so to be fair, we were there late - one of the last couple handful of people to order for the evening. However, the service that was delivered was appalling. I can understand the gentleman taking the order was tired and unmotivated, but customers standing around waiting for 20 minutes whilst a few staff was preparing all the food orders whilst the other half of the staff were packing down and cleaning so to either finish up early, or on time, is simply bad management - whether that was the store managers poor judgement, the strict rules of a regional manager wanting to stand out, or trained expectation for the company financial requirements, I am lost for words to describe how 'bad' the whole experience was. With that many people standing around waiting and watching an open kitchen run by half the staff whilst the others were cleaning and restocking, you would think they would be a little embarrassed. A couple of the staff even had the time to stop, chat and giggle at whatever it is that amuses them. We even got to watch a girl take out the rubbish bin, politely excusing herself as she passed other waiting customers. The wait was so long that we watched her come back only to set up a few stickers ready to put on and seal shut any pick up orders that was still due to be prepared, I assume. After the gruelling 20 minute wait, our meals was finally ready - Thank God! Without being rude or expressing my feelings about the awful service, we politely took our food and decided to eat in the car. The car was parked a whole 2 minutes walk away, and no sooner than we sat down was the bag torn open ready to be devoured by our hungry bellies. Imagine waiting all that time, now hungry for a feed, only to find out the chips we received were stale and not even warm. Tired from the wait and not wanting to go back inside and make a scene, we headed for Maccas on Ballarat road to fill our underfed bellies. It was the worst experience I have ever had the pleasure to entertain by GYG. My mother always told me never to end any criticism with a negative tone, but instead, finish with a positive note. So, adhering to my mother's advice, I want GYG Highpoint to know that I thoroughly enjoyed the perfection of the Coke I received with my...
Read morePreviously at other GYGs we have had a very good experience and we were excited to try the highpoint one after some shopping- how could we be so wrong……..so the nonchalant teen kid at the counter appeared in a daze when we approached the counter, ignoring us for several minutes. We ordered a beef brisket burrito and a chicken burrito plus a large chips, one beer and a coke.
We made our way to the dining area and there was rubbish and slop over all the tables. The beer and the coke was almost luke warm. When our order came the burritos had the labels mixed up and the ingredients incorrect - my wife at some of my meal accidentally cause of the label mix up. We didn’t get the large chips that was ordered - only a small chips which looked and tasted dried up, stale and was a pathetic sized serve.
I complained to the waiter and he took back the incorrect order then we were supplied a new order - the clown 🤡 making our burritos put the sauce meant for the chips on the burrito 🌯 plus I asked for spicy and it was very bland.
The chicken burrito supplied was half the size of the previous one. The provided the large chips this time but again, stale, looking like someone looked for scraps under their car seat. We did get a complimentary churros for the trouble - a shame we don’t eat them.
Maybe consider training the underpaid teens behind the counter a little better. I’m actually surprised you are still in business considering the reviews on here 😝. Yes I have noticed all the one and two star reviews here are genuine and the 4-5 star reviews are fake from social media marketing companies. And don’t bother asking me to email this info to your @hola email - I really can’t be tossed and I am sure u people can...
