Amazing sangas loaded with fresh and high quality protein sandwiched in fluffy shokupan or buttery sourdough toasts.

Wanted to try everything but had to opt for their 2 most popular…

Fried chicken katsu sandwich (4.5/5): they do a phat chicken sanga - fat, juicy, crispy and flavourful. The lettuce and hugo’s sauce had a nice lemony and herby kick which elevated that delicious chicken. Tastes like a fillet-o-fish b ur chicken - outdone Maccas that’s for sure. The shokupan was the best vessel to bring out the experience of the fried chicken. Whilst I prefer my buns on a crispy chicken sanga, I think the panko crumbing pairs best with the fluffy sweet bread. Probably can eat this everyday if I could.

Reuben toastie (3.75/5): loved everything about it in terms of the toasted sourdough, reuben, Hugo’s sauce and cheese. Down points bc I found the sauerkraut too sour and the mustard too overpowering. Less of those 2 would’ve been a 10/10 bc I am a sucker for a Reuben. Would let Hugo’s take the crown for the best Reuben in terms of portion, quality and concept to a classic Reuben.

Definitely coming back to try their fried Mushroom and Fish sandwiches as well as their Cheesy toasties.

A year later and now I am a regular. Fan of their classics & a crazier fan for their weekend specials like their steak frites baguette 10/10

Taste: 4.25/5 Value: 4.25/5 Ambience:...

Hugo's Deli exudes warmth and flavor in every bite. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the aroma of freshly toasted bread and savory meats, setting the stage for a culinary adventure.

The menu boasts an impressive array of sandwiches, salads, and sides, each crafted with care and attention to detail. Whether you're in the mood for a classic Reuben or craving something more adventurous like the Turkey Pesto Panini, Hugo's has something to satisfy every palate.

What truly sets Hugo's apart is the quality of their ingredients. Locally sourced produce and meats ensure that each dish is bursting with freshness and flavor. And let's not forget their homemade sauces and dressings, which elevate every bite to new heights of deliciousness.

But it's not just the food that keeps me coming back to Hugo's. The friendly staff always greets me with a smile and makes me feel like family with their attentive service. Whether I'm dining in or grabbing a quick bite to go, I know I'll be treated to a memorable experience every time.

In a world filled with fast food chains and cookie-cutter eateries, Hugo's Deli stands out as a beacon of authenticity and quality. If you haven't had the pleasure of dining here yet, do yourself a favor and pay them a visit. You won't be...

Hugo’s Deli is an absolute gem — easily one of the best spots in Richmond for sandwiches and coffee. It’s the kind of place that gets everything right: simple, high-quality ingredients, done with real care and attention to detail.

The sandwiches are next-level. Fresh bread, generous fillings, and flavour combinations that are spot on. Whether it’s a classic done perfectly or one of their more creative specials, you can tell a lot of thought goes into every bite. It’s the kind of food that feels both comforting and exciting at the same time.

The coffee here is excellent too — smooth, strong, and consistently well made. Perfect on its own or paired with a sandwich when you need a quick pick-me-up.

The service is always friendly and efficient, and the vibe of the place is relaxed but buzzing — a reflection of just how popular it is with locals. Even when it’s busy, the team keeps everything moving quickly without losing that personal touch.

Hugo’s Deli is the go-to for anyone who appreciates good food made well. It’s the kind of spot you keep coming back to, whether it’s for a quick takeaway or a sit-down bite with friends. Richmond is...

🥪 The Reuben 🍗 The Chicken Hugo's Deli is Melbourne's busiest new sandwich deli, serving up New York and Japanese inspired sandwiches on a vibrant corner of Swan Street, Richmond. 🥪 The menu isn’t massive but it’s done right, with all the must-have crowd pleasers. The kitchen runs like clockwork and all of the staff are super friendly. The coffee is elite, sourced from one of the owners own roasters @odyssey.coffee.roasters, even serving cold brew on tap. Who can ever pass up a good Reuben? Hugo’s features Uncle’s pastrami, sauerkraut, American cheese, Hugo sauce and pickles. Toasted to perfection and sprinkled with some rock salt. From first bite you are hit with smokiness from the meat balanced out with the tang from the sauerkraut. Drool. 🤤 The Chicken surprised me, it may be the only one I’ve had so far that the schnitzel is super crunchy and served on freshly hand sliced Shokupan. I really love that Hugo’s sauce. Just delicious! 🍞 Every little detail to the sandwiches is thought of, it was truely impressive. The pricing ranges from $14-17.50. Can’t wait to make my way through the menu, highly recommend. 👏🏽
