The owner was one of the loveliest people ever and his passion for what he does and his customers was so evident in the way he was engaging with his locals and regulars which was so nice to see. Gorgeous interiors and a lovely atmosphere (it basically looks like how I want my house to look except I keep accidentally killing all my greenery) they keep the menu streamlined with the option to build your own breakfast which is perfect as it completely removes the inflexibility you find at many cafes which don’t allow you to change your sides. I got avo on toast with feta chilli and mint. I adored the flavour the mint gave it and my side of smoked salmon came plated as a beautiful rose. A classic dish done very well. Husband got scrambled eggs with sides of avocado and mushroom. I sampled the eggs which were nice and fluffy. My chai was also sensational and cutely served with a little jar of honey. This suited me very well as I like mine quite sweet but not all do so it allows the ability for everyone to get the balance that they prefer. It’s also a bit more interactive which I enjoy. I also thoroughly enjoyed the caprese salad which was vibrant and full of delicious fresh flavours. Again classic, simple but very well executed. If you are after a sweet treat I smelt and saw the chef whipping up freshly baked muffins Tucked away from the craziness of chapel st but conveniently located just off that main strip, this is the perfect place for an easy...

I chose this cafe based on seemingly good reviews, but my first (and absolutely last) visit was a masterclass in terrible service and disappointment. Bringing our dog, we responsibly headed straight for the outdoor seating. My partner went inside to place our order, hoping to save their time. Instead of appreciating the help, staff were incredibly rude, insisting we “leave the counter, go back outside, and wait indefinitely for someone to come take our order out there”. Their inflexibility was jaw-dropping – apparently, ordering inside instantly made it "takeaway only," even though we were clearly dining outside! After unnecessary back-and-forth, another staff member finally took the order.
We waited patiently at our outdoor table. Forty minutes later, our food finally arrived. …. in takeaway boxes. When questioned about why our dine-in meal was served like takeout, the dismissive response was, "It’s from the kitchen, I have no control." Zero apology. Zero accountability. Just pure indifference.
To add salt to injury, the coffee and food were utterly ordinary! We left most of it uneaten – it simply wasn't worth finishing.
Save your time, money, and sanity. This cafe completely ruined our Sunday morning with their combination of abysmal service, poor management, and mediocre offerings. There are countless better options – go literally anywhere else. We certainly will...
Read moreWhy do I love this place. First of all, the coffee - outstanding. Sweets- Delicious and even some nutritious treats in the cabinet. Kitchen- DELICIOUS, fresh, lovely food. And not too pricey. Has great little local bits and bobs for sale and on display. But the reason I keep going back is for the one and only OG, D$- Donavan. One of the first days I moved to the neighbor hood I was running around doing errands. I hadn't eaten all day. Famished, I wandered in to Husband. I hastily ordered the first thing I saw which was a cupcake. I finished it in three, maybe four bites. I was seriously hungry. It was decadent btw. As I'm reeling from my sugar high and wondering whether to be chuffed or embarrassed with myself Donavan (who had clearly bee watching) exclaims, "Damn girl! Do they feed you at home?" I knew then I loved him. He is the most wonderful, positive person. And witty AF. He is one of my favourite humans. I'm lucky to have met him and will always keep coming back for more coffee, cupcakes and...
