Finally got around to eating at Hobba, where I've wanted to come for a while. We got there around 12 and so finding a table without a booking wasn't hard at all. The vibe is very hip/funky and it feels like it used to be a car garage or something similar with big garage doors at the front, and a modern industrial feel on the inside. We were seated right away and given menus promptly and everyone was friendly. There's a good selection to choose from, and a few daily specials to pick from as well, Even with all the delicious sounding all day breakfast items, I opted for a fish burger and it was great. Their chips are honestly the best I've had almost anywhere. I don't know what the secret is, but they were phenomenal. The food came out in a good time, and everything tasted great; everyone else loved what they ordered, as well. There was just one or two small and very minor complaints I had about it, and that was lack of room at the table (when all the food and beverages are on there). On a warm day, which it was, the big front doors were open and flies were everywhere. The a/c wasn't put on until it really got hot, so half the meal was in warm conditions and the other half was in noise when it was put on. The last thing was that the burgers kind of had to be eaten with a knife and fork because they were just so messy (sauce and shredded lettuce falling out all over the place), and they placed napkins under the burger, which made it difficult to cut. However ... all in all, I loved it here. Based on my burger the other day, I cannot wait to try their regular cheeseburger and come from breakfast one day too. I loved the atmosphere and feel. Prices are good and while parking can be a bit tricky depending on day or time of visit, it's worth a shlep to get a good meal. Will definitely be back.

had a disappointing experience at hobba today. we were sat quickly in one of the booths, but the seats themselves were quite dirty and full of crumbs which was a bit gross. when ordering food, i checked with the waiter whether removing the egg from the avocado toast would make it vegan and he said yes - i then also asked if the mushrooms were vegan and he said yes. my partner also ordered the same thing and confirmed that it was vegan. however, when the food came, the avocado toast had cheese on it. i said to the waiter that i had asked for it to be vegan, and she said ok, and then told me the mushrooms were actually cooked in butter and weren't vegan. they quickly rectified this and assured us we would not pay for the mushrooms, but upon paying they were still on the bill and i had to clarify that we actually did not end up getting the mushrooms. there was also some confusion with the drinks we ordered. the staff were not very apologetic, and a mistake like this is quite out of touch for a cafe in the inner city suburbs. vegan options generally were also pretty bad, with no breakfast option made vegan automatically. overall while the atmosphere was nice i won't be returning and advise vegans to not eat here.

Hobba Cafe in Prahran is a vibrant spot that blends industrial charm with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Known for its creative takes on Melbourne cafe classics, it offers a diverse menu that caters to breakfast and lunch lovers alike. Your choice—the poke bowl with pickled salmon—sounds like a bold and flavorful dish! Pickled salmon is often praised for its balance of tangy and rich flavors, making it a great addition to a fresh, well-assembled bowl. If Hobba's approach to food is anything to go by, I imagine they’ve crafted something truly special. The cafe itself is known for its high-quality single origin coffee, friendly service, and creative dishes like the Española omelette and kimchi baked beans or the Aleppo eggs. the overall experience is consistently praised for its delicious food and inviting ambiance. A standout feature of Hobba Cafe is the hands-on approach of the owner, who is always on-site, ensuring that every guest has a great experience. This personal touch adds to the warm atmosphere and guarantees that customer satisfaction is a top priority. Must visit cafe. Today also I had the Philadelphia steak sub. Was mouth watering and very filling
