Finally got around to eating at Hobba, where I've wanted to come for a while. We got there around 12 and so finding a table without a booking wasn't hard at all. The vibe is very hip/funky and it feels like it used to be a car garage or something similar with big garage doors at the front, and a modern industrial feel on the inside. We were seated right away and given menus promptly and everyone was friendly. There's a good selection to choose from, and a few daily specials to pick from as well, Even with all the delicious sounding all day breakfast items, I opted for a fish burger and it was great. Their chips are honestly the best I've had almost anywhere. I don't know what the secret is, but they were phenomenal. The food came out in a good time, and everything tasted great; everyone else loved what they ordered, as well. There was just one or two small and very minor complaints I had about it, and that was lack of room at the table (when all the food and beverages are on there). On a warm day, which it was, the big front doors were open and flies were everywhere. The a/c wasn't put on until it really got hot, so half the meal was in warm conditions and the other half was in noise when it was put on. The last thing was that the burgers kind of had to be eaten with a knife and fork because they were just so messy (sauce and shredded lettuce falling out all over the place), and they placed napkins under the burger, which made it difficult to cut. However ... all in all, I loved it here. Based on my burger the other day, I cannot wait to try their regular cheeseburger and come from breakfast one day too. I loved the atmosphere and feel. Prices are good and while parking can be a bit tricky depending on day or time of visit, it's worth a shlep to get a good meal. Will definitely be back.

On 18 September we visited Hobba in 428 Malvern Rd, Prahran ✨ We got: ☕️ Hot & Iced Latte Good blend of coffee which can’t go wrong to accompany yummy brunch dishes. 🥞 Hobba Hotcakes Good twist on the classic hotcakes with a soft thicc sponge cake texture which soaked up all the maple syrup and the ricotta flavor as well 😋 Berries were perfect addition to balance the sweetness! 🍗 Fried Chicken & Waffle This was ✨ Excellent ✨, definitely worth a spot in my top 5 fried chicken & waffle I’ve ever tried ‼️ The chicken was well seasoned, good hint of spice, and a nice crunchy and juicy balance. The waffle definitely held the maple syrup well. The dishes were delicious, nicely portioned for the price, you won’t leave hungry for sure! 🤤 There were plenty of seatings which were nicely spaced out, but definitely book beforehand cause they got busy quickly! Relaxing atmosphere with all the hanging plants as well 🍃 Also, make sure to check out their Hobba Specials board for their seasonal dishes, there were good selections from there too 🥰 Overall, we definitely recommend you to visit as well and let us know your experience! ✨

had a disappointing experience at hobba today. we were sat quickly in one of the booths, but the seats themselves were quite dirty and full of crumbs which was a bit gross. when ordering food, i checked with the waiter whether removing the egg from the avocado toast would make it vegan and he said yes - i then also asked if the mushrooms were vegan and he said yes. my partner also ordered the same thing and confirmed that it was vegan. however, when the food came, the avocado toast had cheese on it. i said to the waiter that i had asked for it to be vegan, and she said ok, and then told me the mushrooms were actually cooked in butter and weren't vegan. they quickly rectified this and assured us we would not pay for the mushrooms, but upon paying they were still on the bill and i had to clarify that we actually did not end up getting the mushrooms. there was also some confusion with the drinks we ordered. the staff were not very apologetic, and a mistake like this is quite out of touch for a cafe in the inner city suburbs. vegan options generally were also pretty bad, with no breakfast option made vegan automatically. overall while the atmosphere was nice i won't be returning and advise vegans to not eat here.

Cool place with a great vibe. The space is great, light & airy, with booths or tables, some along the wall with charging stations - nice touch! We wanted a breakfast/brunch place but somewhere we could also get items to take away for our day out to Werribee Open Range Zoo, well Hobba ticked the boxes on all counts and then some! My husband was on a mission to have the Hot Cakes after seeing the photos on various reviews. WOW! These are on another level of yummy decadence. My daughter & I immediately had food envy so we all had to have a bit! Straight away our daughter said, ‘Can we come again tomorrow?! I want to have Kids Hotcakes!’ Errrr - that was a firm YES! We ended up coming back twice more, one of which was our last stop on the way to the airport to catch our flight back to Sydney!! It was soooooo worth it and a real highlight of our trip to Melbourne. Coffee is fantastic too, as is the service, attentive without being overbearing. Thanks Hobba! Can’t wait to come back again!

Went to the cafe on a public holiday based on several positive reviews. At one point I wondered if too many raving reviews were because they were incentivised at the cafe but that’s not the case. Food was truly brilliant. We went as a group of 11 (part vegetarians) Group was first impressed by the ambience and then the food. Staff were friendly to accommodate the reservation changes we had to impose last minute.. feels pricy to begin with but worth the penny. Hard to pick a favourite from the food : matcha latte (all drinks were good tbh, just have to ask for triple extra hot if you’d fancy that) Southern Chicken Burgers (good portion size) Hobba Chicken Waffles (too good) , Pork Belly Benedict, Trio of Mushrooms (lovely!) , Aleppo eggs , Bircher muesli (filling!!) , Spinach rolls (filling)… The flavours in Hobba hotcakes didn’t disappoint, would just have loved a little more strawberries 🤌

Spacious but still cosy, the place was buzzing even on a cold and stormy day. Had a nice single origin Ethiopean filter coffee that was sweet and smooth, and a decent chai latte - although not sure if it was the cold day but both could've been much hotter. Everyone's food looked quite nice, but be warned if you're getting poached eggs, they are done quite raw. The waitress told us they're famous for their 63C slow poached eggs but it was not mentioned on the menu. I had the Chargrilled Octopus special which was delicious, but again did not come out very hot. Seems like whoever was on temp control was a bit off, but overall still nice experience and would come here again...perhaps on a hot day!
