I’ve been coming here for two years and always enjoyed the food, but after this visit I don’t think I’ll be back. The jokbal itself was good, cooked just right and definitely worth four stars on taste, but the service was honestly a disaster.
I called ahead to book and was told they don’t take reservations, which was fine, but when we showed up there was no queuing system at all. We ended up waiting for almost an hour while empty tables sat around us, and we were told we couldn’t sit because of people who never even showed up. By the time we finally got a seat, we were already frustrated, and then it took another thirty minutes before the food arrived. To top it off, the door wouldn’t close properly so cold air kept rushing in, and the staff didn’t seem to care.
The whole experience was unfriendly, disorganised and unpleasant. For a place I’ve been loyal to for so long, this was a real letdown, and good food can’t make up for...
Read moreIf you’re craving authentic Korean comfort food, Jokbal King is a must-visit. The jokbal (braised pork trotters) was absolutely delicious — tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned with that melt-in-your-mouth texture. The portion size was very generous, making it great for sharing with friends.
I also loved the little extras that came with the meal: the rice balls were fresh and tasty, the banchan (side dishes) added a perfect balance of flavors, and the spicy dipping sauces really elevated the pork. Everything was served on a large platter, which made the whole dining experience feel fun and communal.
The restaurant has a cozy vibe with a casual, lively atmosphere — exactly what you’d want when enjoying hearty Korean food with drinks. Service was friendly and quick, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed.
Highly recommend this spot if you want to experience quality jokbal in Melbourne. I’ll...
Read moreTried out this relatively new spot that's been on my radar for a while now—been open for about 8 months. Ordered the Korean braised pork hock with pork belly, along with the cold pork hock. Let me tell you, these dishes were massive, especially with all the side dishes they come with—check out the photos! The buckwheat noodles were served in a dry version and tasted amazing. However, the steam egg was a bit disappointing, as it was a tad overcooked. On a brighter note, their fried chicken was a delightful surprise—crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and fresh-cooked to order. I'll definitely be back, though probably during the summer, as they don't offer too many options...
