Didn't think in the heart of the city is a no frills but tasty value for your money Chinese restaurant, just like your local neighbourhood joint. We were a group of 8 and ordered 8 dishes plus 2 serves of dumplings. Before we got to our table the dishes were ready to be served! All dishes come with steamed rice apart from noodle dishes and the food is very enjoyable. From sweet and sour pork, satay chicken, beef in black bean sauce, the classics from your neighbourhood Chinese restaurant, they're here. We also got deep fried and unctuous salt and pepper chicken ribs, Singaporean noodles, and a spicy fish in chilli sauce. Vegetarian options are available too ordering veg fried rice and veg char kway teow, plus fried vegetarian dumplings which were yum. The steamed pork dumplings were yum too. Plenty of food and enjoyed by everyone, this is a popular lunchtime spot for the office crowd.

Read moreA long-standing Melbourne classic and a go-to spot for many low-income students over the years. The portions are huge and the prices have always been affordable. Just look at the photo—Fried Chicken on Rice with a piece of fried chicken that’s several times bigger than the spoon! I could only finish half the rice and one piece of chicken, and took the rest home for another full meal.
I’ve been eating here since it was just $6. Though the shop has since relocated and prices have risen with time and inflation—now $13—the menu and generous portion sizes have remained unchanged.
Massive respect and gratitude to the owner for continuing to serve budget-friendly meals that go beyond filling. In a city where the cost of living is among the highest in the country (and the world), this place has been a comforting constant for students and workers trying to...
Read moreDon't Order The Laksa!!!!
When they advertise Laksa but what they really should have called it was slightly spicy soup. The audacity of calling this laksa! I wanted to send it back as soon as I saw it, before I even tasted it.
No coconut milk, no shrimp paste, no fish broth, no heat, just soup stock with a small amount of chilli. If I could score it less than ZERO I would. It's one thing if this was a BAD laksa but to call this laksa is an outrage and false advertising.
I've given them 3 stars because I don't want to give them 1 based on this dish alone. I love the atmosphere and dinning room, I could be in a hole in the wall somewhere in Asia not in the MEL CBD. I love the prices and the look of the other items on the menu. Great for a cheap Chinese lunch, just don't order the I'll return to try other dishes. A lot of customers ordered the...
