Delicious food, great atmosphere and wonderful service. Doesn't get much better than this. A new local gem.

First time visitors today and we will be returning! We were warmly greeted and given our table near the kitchen. Great spot for us as we enjoy watching how kitchens work and see all the food on the pass.

A waiter advised our food would be with us shortly and the next thing we were given complementary rotti crisps due to the delay in our food arriving. Whilst we didn't feel like we were waiting very long at all as we were taking in all of the surrounds, it was a very welcome surprise.

Not long after, our meals arrived and we sat in silence for most of it as we thoroughly enjoyed all the flavours. Whilst I'm far from an expert on Sri Lankan food and what it 'should' taste like, I do appreciate great flavour and all the food we tasted had plenty of it!

The service from the staff was good and especially their smiles and ease of conversation. A quick thank you to the kitchen staff on our way out was responded to humbly and with smiles.

We bought a little sweet treat to take home with us and next time we visit will buy some of the chilli sauce!

Do yourself a favour and check out this place for yourself. Already looking forward to...

Where do I even begin? Sri Lankan inspired brunch and St Ali coffee... what a combination! The scent of spices and coffee wafting through the air was simply mouthwatering. My partner ordered the vegetarian Hip Hopper and I opted for a breakfast roti stack with an egg. After waiting for a little while (they were pretty busy!) two gorgeous looking plates were set in front of us and the friendly staff explained the components on the dish. The staff obviously love what they do and are all too happy to discuss anything and everything regarding their meals; this was a good sign before we dug into our food. My beef curry was packed full of flavor and the roti... freshly made on the spot. Devine. We devoured every last morsel on the plate. I never thought freshly made roti bread, curry and egg would fly in the morning, but oh, how wrong I was! After eating here, I now firmly belive curry should be a Melbourne brunch staple. Head here if you like a bit of spice and a bit of fire. Having said that, though, it isn't overboard in the heat department; just enough. We will be returning to check out their unlimited curry and hopper for $30 deal on Saturdays, and you should check...

The food was really good here but we went on a day where the patrons far outweighed the capacity of the staff. They were understaffed and were being slammed in the kitchen. This meant a wait of almost 75 minutes for our food.

The big issue is that we weren’t being updated on what was going on. After ordering we were approached only twice before we received our food. Once to say they were out of string hoppers (the whole reason we went in the first place) and once again to say that the food was only then being prepared at the one hour mark which was to our shock.

When all the food came out 2 pan rolls and one more hopper dish were missing. We waited patiently and had to chase them up. They said that we had said that there was no more food to come out. We didn’t say that. Alas, we had to demand the food pretty fast as it had hit the 2 hour mark now.

The food was fantastic! It’s rare to find the cuisine in such an accessible place and it’s worth the trek. Maybe make sure they aren’t busy as all hell. Get the hip hopper mealset to try some variety and get the flouda as a drink which is...
