THE WORST SERVICE AND FOOD HAD HAIR - I went here with my 4 year old yesterday to get a plain pho soup (just noodles and soup no meat nothing else) and a take away rice and pork dish. Firstly, the male server was so bad he didn't understand anything. I understand a language barrier but "spoon" in a restaurant as a server is something that should be understood. I asked for a plain soup just noodles no garnish no meat and out came a soup with garnish, so had to send it back. Then they gave a cup (for water) but no water. I actually had to get the cutlery set of the other table and never got water.
After when I was trying to get my take away dish, the 3 people in the restaurant the elder woman and a younger woman and the male server were just arguing in Vietnamese which is fine but I would have just given me my food and let me pay and leave then argue. The younger woman just kept apologizing for them arguing in front of us customers. The guy in the table beside me also complained to them that his dish was not what he wanted.
Upon leaving I ask how much a plain soup with noodles was and they said $15 and I said why, there isnt even any meat just soup and noodles and I just got a shrug and a sorry but no explanation on the blatant rip off.
The Kicker is I go home and midway through eating the pork dish there is a hair in it. Pretty disgusted, will never go back again, with so many decent Vietnamese restaurants around who are respectful of...
Read moreTo say the Banh Mi is good is an absolute understatement. When you round the corner, you are greeted by a group of pots with chillie plants, basil and mint. Upon entering the premesis a very cold and quiet man will stride to the counter with utmost efficiency and take your order. It may be unnerving as there typically are no pleasantries involved, but only because this man is the zen monk of Banh Mi makers. What he does and places within your hot little hands is an understatedly simple Vietnamese roll that tastes out of this world. It is only when he passes on this delectable treat like the Olympic torch, does he softly smile and wish you a good day....and that is exactly what you have - a good day. Any wet miserable and stressful day is instantly transformed into a good day the moment you peel back the perforated edges of that waxed paper bag and sink your chompers into that culinary treasure. I find every excuse that I have, to walk away from my desk on a stressful day and visit the Little Pho Tuck Shop for one of their Banh Mi...because it really is that good!
Thank you very...
Read moreNeat lil Viet eatery tucked away in a tight corner...the name is apt. Downstairs is for takeaway & upstairs has limited seating area - the walls papered with pages from Lil Golden books which also hang freely on the banisters. All the quirky touches makes it pretty unique but does not quite translate into great Viet hawker food. But then I have a lofty benchmark due to frequenting Viet eateries in Springvale. It was good enough but the rice Vermicelli with spring roll & roast pork was ok due to the pork being chewy & stringy & the nuoc cham pour over thin sauce not as good. Banh Mi (pork roll) & prawn salad was better. Had coconut ice cream with banana & pineapple fritters. The fritters were forgettable. Service is slow but that's fine as they are managing it themselves - looks family run. Prices are more upmarket. Turn up early for dine in & to get a...
