This was the first time I've dined at the Postmaster Hotel. I chose it for a family get-together because of its location and because the reviews were good. We were there for Sunday lunch and they were reasonably busy which was a good sign. The service was very good and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Everyone on our table enjoyed their meals except for 2 of us who ordered the grain salad. This was unfortunately quite bland and uninspiring, even with added chicken. However the parmas, schnitzels and the crispy skin barramundi looked great and, I'm told, tasted great. They were very generous serves. Read moreReally nice suburban pub in Kew, where we wanted to try 'Steak Night.' We were a 'walk-in' as they don't take bookings for under 5 people, which is fine; and, we had no issue although the place was very busy for a Monday night.
Order at the bar or via the app on the table - straightforward. We had the Steak Nite Special ($29) which was a 220g eye fillet, with broccolini and chips with your choice of sauce. They were beautiful cuts of meat cooked medium rare perfectly, and the mushroom sauce was delicious and the hot English mustard packed a punch. We also ordered a cos salad ($10) which was refreshing and full of flavour with the vinaigrette.
Two glasses of wine: a Tellurian Evo shiraz ($15), and an il Fumo sangiovese at ($14) we thought was very reasonable.
Beautiful steak, great value at $97 all up for two, good service at a nice hotel. We will go back; and maybe try one of the other special nights as well, but Monday Steak Night is marked on our...
