rowena is a really really lovely local hidden gem. tucked in the streets of richmond its a little quieter and peaceful but still bustling, especially on sunday brunch hour. service was friendly, and food came out reasonably quick given how busy the cafe was. my chai was served in practically a soup bowl and i couldn't of been happier ((: the menu sticks to a mediterranean which is super yummy however options are quite limited, so maybe check out the menu before visiting! however theres' plenty of toasties and an 'eggs your way', so always something for everyone. would love to see maybe ricotta or feta as an add on rather than just halloumi. food was deeelicious! fresh and hot, and so flavoursome and generous too. will be a regular visitor! thanks rowena!

A colleague recommended this place but it was Monday, so we had to visit a different day. The place was already bustling with diners but we were lucky to score the round table. The menu has a Greek influence as well as all the standard fare. My Pumpkin Hummus Bowl with Falafel and toasted pita bread was wholesome, fresh and satisfying. The goats cheese added to the creaminess of the dish, while pumpkin crisps gave it added texture. My colleagues enjoyed their lamb Kofta plate and Benedict style sandwich. Efficient and friendly service throughout the visit. The decor has a retro grocery store feel about it with the high wall of delicacies for the pantry. A fantastic neighbourhood gem definitely with revisiting.

It's been a while since I had Greek breakfast, and after finding this hidden gem in the middle of Richmond, I was glad to find authentic options here. We were greeted by a friendly staff. We ordered Kaski - Northern Greek dish of roast capsicum, feta, ricotta, chilli & tomato, served with a poached egg & warm pita bread. It didn't take long to get the food, and it was served very hot, on an iron pan. It was so good! Just wished there were less capsicums with possibly more pita breads, as I couldn't finish the dish. Coffee was good too, that my partner had a second serving. The place is slightly packed, so it does help to book in advance, specially on weekends. They have a cute grocery corner as well.

A peaceful neighbourhood offering. A warm feel from the space which is heavy on the browns and decorated well with Mediterranean pantry items. Kaski was the pick. Firstly, the bread matched the dish; crunchy, chewy and functioned to balance and scoop up the rich sauce. The sauce is now on the list of things to recreate at home, capsicum, olives, tomato, paprika, it all came through. The hint of spice from the chilli, and acidity and juice from the tomatoes was balanced by the ricotta and the overly (in my opinion) generous serve of feta. The Small Batch coffee is another pro. Completely satisfied, hope to return, do recommend.

A fantastic and eclectic breakfast spot, with great food and a very funky interior, Rowena Corner Store is really good! Using a mix of old signage, and corner store staples like milk and lollies, it's a wierd combination of a café, crossed with a corner milk bar. The food was really great and the staff are super friendly. I will absolutely be back and would highly recommend it to anyone. Also the artworks on the side of the building, by Dvate and Lucy Lucy, are worth checking out also.

What a fantastic brunch spot. We had some time to kill in the AM before meeting friends in Richmond and found this place having a wander. My partner ordered the porridge which was divine, covered in a large collection of fruit and a great blueberry compote. I ordered the eggs benedict, which might be the very best I’ve had in Melbourne. Such great flavour, well portioned and perfectly cooked eggs. Highly recommend. Coffee also excellent.
