Lukumades - Carlton — Restaurant in Melbourne

Came by Lukumades in Carlton to try Greek Donuts for the very first time and I really enjoyed it! These donuts are so fresh, super crispy on the outside and fluffy and airy on the inside. I can see they put a lot of care into the preparation as they frequently make fresh batches for each order. Not being a super big sweet tooth myself, I found these donuts to be the perfect level of sweetness and plenty of dessert sauces I could pick from that weren't overall too sweet (they have over 20 flavours to choose from - and defs include a few that are on the sweeter side)

I love how they can serve up to 2 flavours per serving, meaning we could really maximise on trying out the variety of flavours. I went with a group of 4 and two boxes of half/half donuts were plenty to share around. They also had refreshers, thickshakes, coffee and gelato on offer too - so you're definitely not short of dessert options here if donuts ain't your thing. The staff here are also so lovely and I love how this place is an open kitchen where you can see your order being made right infront of you.

The manager was very rude he was only focusing on particular customers and didn’t pay attention when we were enquiring about the prices. All donuts were said $10 and when we tried to ask how it worked he simply went you get two flavours then started talking to his colleague in his language .

We had a menu more like takeaway menu flyer in our hand and he just literally grabbed it and he didn’t care was stillhe was still focused on the same customers , put it back to the same spot without cleaning it . He didn’t bother explaining the way Lukumades worked he just was like get two flavours and instead of $10 we ended up paying $14. He was literally talking in his language and making comments on the same customers, personally don’t have problems with that but that’s not professional etiquette.. all in all really worst experience.. Please know all customers are equally important , being so rude to someone doesn’t make you a greater person . I don’t have problems with other staff but it seemed like he was the manager and he was really rude.

Hopefully people don’t suffer same consequences and lukumades do something...

Definitely a treat to have! Bring a friend with you as 10 lukumades was a bit much for one person. I got sold on the half and half option for an extra two bucks, but because the oreo and maple is so subtle, it was drowned out by the biscoff half. If I had to do it again, I would just forego the half and half option since they share the same container and the sauces just end up all over each other.

Definitely get the extra strawberries for $2.50 which they upsell you on because you definitely need some freshness to cut through the dessert and it makes it taste so much better. Maybe even get two servings of strawberries - I definitely was wanting more fresh fruit!

There is a surcharge (10% on weekends, 15% on public holidays). The ambiance is lovely and the staff are very welcoming and friendly so would be a lovely option for date night. Would appreciate having a vegan gelato...
