MAITA 運時百穗 by TANG - Chadstone — Restaurant in Melbourne

This is our favourite Asian supermarket with no doubt because of the range of items available, the very interesting concept of having multiple smaller stores selling bubble tea, baked goods, side dishes etc within the store, good opening hours and the affordable prices. Maita Chadstone is located near the entrance of the mall in a place with lots of foot traffic so it is always full of people with long queues but they move fast. We love how there are promotions very frequently and how the staff is so approachable and helpful. We stop by here every month or so to stick up on our favourite Asian pantry essentials, freezer items, snacks and ice cream. We recommend everyone should check out Maita at least once when they are in Chadstone shopping centre because you will be pleasantly surprised. I normally have a good experience here but this time the onigiri rice I bought there was raw and inedible. The rice was undercooked and hard. When I went back to tell them, the girl working there disagreed although she didn't check the rice. She said they always cooked it just cooked. I literally eat rice everyday as if I don't know what undercooked rice is.

Because of this I couldn't eat my lunch on my lunch break, so I'm very disappointed. She said she couldn't refund me but could only give me a new one. I came back after I finished work why would I need...

I bought two portions of “Nuo Ji Ji” (glutinous rice balls with osmanthus and red bean) from Xu dumpling 江南点心局 at Chadstone around 5:50 PM. When I opened them at home at 7:30 PM, both were already sour and clearly spoiled. This is absolutely unacceptable for a fresh food product.

The store should take food safety seriously—this kind of issue could easily cause food poisoning. I demand a proper explanation and refund.
