Matteo's Delicatessen — Restaurant in Melbourne

I have been a regular here - very friendly spot that used to sell a delicious SPS sandwich. Ordered one today and it's now no longer tasty due to change of bread supplier- essentially it went from Ciabatta to normal bread that results in a slimy damp toast, slightly burnt on the outside. It has now gone to the dog. Shame but will be back if normal bread service resumes.

Editing to add that this review is only for this one sandwich so does not reflect the whole delicatessen. It was a 5-star sandwich which is now 0-star. Don't want to put people off from trying other things, I only go there for this + coffee...

Blonde lady has no idea how to run a store. She legit stayed on the phone looking around for 5 minutes when she couldve just gave me my food in 15 seconds as it was already packed. She promptly told the other lady in the back to take over the till while she talks on the phone to someone; even if its about work her rudeness continues "why are you here" "what are you waitinh on" like as if a paying customer is more of an issue. Visited today at about 1pm and ordered 'The Italian' Panini and I really wanted to love it but unfortunately all i could taste was the ciabatta bread because there was barely any filling. It was definitely overpriced for what it was, i feel like i paid $15 for just bread. Sorry Matteo's deli but I'm just being honest and I was pretty disappointed.
