I’d seen some low reviews floating around but noticed they were a few years old — based on our visit, whatever issues existed have well and truly been sorted. We had a fantastic experience from start to finish.
It’s a small spot, so I recommend booking ahead. We were lucky to snag a table outside — cold winter’s day with no heaters, but we’d just come from Healesville Sanctuary and were rugged up, so it worked out fine. Staff offered to move us inside if space opened up, which was appreciated.
We were told there’d be a 20-minute wait for the burgers, but sides would come out quickly. That promise was kept by a lovely, polite staff member. Chips and kids’ nuggets were out in no time, and we weren’t complaining — the chips were crispy, perfectly seasoned, and that chipotle sauce? Next level.
Then came the main event. I went with the Zinger and wow — melt-in-your-mouth chicken, soft bun, just fell apart in the best way. I was genuinely tempted to order another. My wife had the Veggie Cheeseburger and loved it. This place has officially become our go-to whenever we’re in the area… maybe even worth a special trip just for it.
Our kid polished off the nuggets so fast I didn’t even get a bite — usually I finish the leftovers but not this time!
Menu made it hard to choose — the parma and fried chicken options looked like winners too. Paired everything with a local pale ale and couldn’t be happier.
Highly recommend. Whatever you’ve done to lift your game, it’s...

I had the truffle burger and it was so good, as Gordon Ramsay would describe it: it was 'next level'. A friend of mine who ordered the same concurred.
We sat at the back in the beer garden with a cocktail bar, and those cocktails were top notch as well. The Flaming Passionfruit and Hazelnut Espresso Martini are worthy mentions.
Now on to service, the bartender alleged that it was his first night behind the bar, and asked us if his drinks were any good. Well if it was truly his first night we weren't able to tell because his drinks were divine. When we ordered our food, the server told us there might be a 30 minute wait. Our food was served 40 minutes later and the staff were apologising profusely for the delay, and offering us a free round of drinks. We honestly didn't even realise that the food was 10 minutes late, and it was definitely worth the wait. Never had such good service at a burger joint.
In summary, if you're in Healesville, you'd be missing out if you did not pop in to Monroe's for a bite. And to the Monroe's team: thank you, well done and keep doing what you're doing....
Read moreReply to Monroe's: My review was accurate for my experience on the day eg: Told by the young server as he pointed to the shelf behind him, "no wine available to drink, only to purchase by the bottle, from the shelf, to take away". There were no salad options, unless as you said you get a burger without a bun (which you probably still pay for). So salad would be shredded lettuce, avo and onion 🤔 Had to wait over half an hour for an espresso martini, despite barely any customers (although I suspect a couple of attempts ended up on the bar floor indicated by the crashing and laughing from within). We did ask the waiter (only server full stop on the day) about one of the options my husband ordered and he shrugged and said he had no idea. We went for my husband's birthday and whilst I knew it was burgers and beer, I honestly thought I could get a wine and salad. Even "sometimes" food should still be enjoyable 😊 Do yourself a favour, head to Macca's. Or stay home and cook an Aussie burger. Looking for an early heart attack? Then head on down. But don't expect to wash it down with a nice glass of YV wine, or even a cold bottle of water. BYO tomato...
