Something's definitely not right at Mr Chambers at the moment.
I was pretty disappointed to be served lukewarm, soggy, spring rolls ($16) last night. Literally the small ones you buy in those cocktail entertainer packs from the supermarket that are all pastry and no filling.
Asked the staff if the kitchen had a deep fryer and was told no, just an air fryer. We passed on ordering the wedges after hearing that!
Also disappointed in the chorizo ($18) which again looked like it had come from a supermarket deli, and then cut up and grilled too much. Served with an onion relish from a jar.
I honestly donât know what happened. It was like the kitchen was stitching us up! Anyway, we laughed it off and quickly left.
Slow service (despite an almost empty floor) and lots of unavailability on the wine list (we had two attempts to pick a bottle only to be told they were out) also contributed to making this a night out to forget,...
Read moreIgnore this one and go somewhere like Shadowbox or Chez Olivier for wine bars along toorak if you donât want an under-pour.
Went for an after concert wine after driving friends to and from and have been to this restaurant before and after renaming and usually order bottles however, upon ordering a glass of wine it came as 120ml pour (confirmed by the waiter). I was Surprised as I am happy to pay $21 for a glass of Craggy Range Pinot however for an under-pour to that significance was pretty crazy to me for the cost of the glass. Both the bar staff (especially the younger male) that served me indicated I was being difficult for suggesting it should be more mls for any average restaurant pour. I know that you can technically legally pour 120ml but for a 21 dollar glass you would expect 150ml at any decent restaurant which this one is meant to be. Bit of a joke really and wouldnât bother going here after work or for...
Read moreA little disappointed... Made a reservation for two, arrived on time, and we were directed to a table. After our wine had arrived, it emerged the wait staff had mixed up our reservations and seated us at the wrong table. This was no big deal, but another member of staff coming out of the kitchen gesturing at us exclaiming "they have to move" and loudly telling us the table had a "reserved" sign on it and was for people who had made a reservation was not such a great experience. The way this was communicated seemed to imply we were at fault, and was embarrassing and unnecessary. The interaction set an uncomfortable tone for the evening. They later apologised before we paid and, given the other positive reviews, this doesn't sound like the typical experience here. However, unfortunately I probably wouldn't go back...
