I rarely put bad reviews but this time - I have to write. Specifically for 09/04/2023 To the young lady / waiter that worked during 8-9pm shift.
As we first entered:
The service was very NOT professional ; “go to the counter & write ur name” ok understandable.. maybe she could say with much more gesture or politeness? or “please?” Or “could you?”
After ordering food: we were sat next to the counter, as a convenience way, waiter just pull out a bowl of soup right on top of us (what if it dropped?) Could you perhaps just walk JUST a little bit to pass it to us? cutleries?? Missed out. Ok had to ask. was passed on from the counter AGAIN because it’s convenience. no “here’s your food, enjoy, just plain landing on the table”
Alright fine.
Then we realised, the order was WRONG. Told the other lady who looked more like a supervisor - she apologised & asked the younger girl to replace it.
Of course, , took the bowl FROM the counter - again, lifting it up above us, without saying sorry, without saying a single word. Took off.
So after 15 minutes for a replacement, food came, BY having it transported from the counter AGAIN. Doesn’t m she knows that it’s dangerous? It’s a BOWL of HOT soup.
Nothing said, just put it on the table, no sorry, no here’s your food, no thank you for waiting either.
Ok that’s fine!
Food is here. No cutleries! She took them away when it was replaced. Now? I have to asked for cutleries, no words were said, went back to the counter , passed it over again from there (which is fine because it’s just cutleries). But, hello? Is this customer service? You didn’t even say oh sorry, or anything! Pure silent, no smiles, just ‘annoyed’ after working the whole day kind of look.
Very very very disappointed. Was looking forward to this place as it’s something different - but man… that customer service...
Read moreWe recently came back from our Vietnam vacation and discovered this newly opened Pho restaurant. The menu looked so good, we decided to give it a try.
The day that we decided to head in was the scorching weekend Melbourne was facing - near 40C degree temperatures. But even though it was sweltering, it didn’t affect our enjoyment of the delicious piping hot bowls of Pho. In fact, it made it more memorable!
We had the Ox Tail Pho and the Special Chicken Pho. Both dishes came with a generous side of the traditional lemon, chilli, bean sprouts, and Thai basil and fresh mint leaves.
The chef even surprised us with a generous serving of the beef bone that made the stock. It made the experience all the more special!
Have you ever had rice noodles where they tasted like the broth they’re swimming in? That’s exactly what it was like with each mouthful. Each strand was delicate and silky but packed with flavour. We couldn’t get enough of it!
The meat from the ox tail pulled easily away from the bone and melted in our mouths. The soup is deep and rich yet light. You don’t need much of the lemon or chilli accompaniments to flavour the broth. Just let the beef do the heavy lifting.
The chicken Pho had a good serving of chicken, chicken offals and ‘immature chicken eggs’. The chicken was juicy and tender; and everything else was a perfect accompaniment. The soup is great on its own and comes alive even more when lemon and chilli are added to it.
If you love Pho, you must try this place. It has now become our favourite Pho restaurant.
We were told that the chef is a Masterchef in his home country of Vietnam. We feel this restaurant should be awarded a Michelin star. Yes, it’s...
Read moreCambodia’s Kitchen is one of the very few Cambodian restaurants in Melbourne, and the only one in the CBD. It's a small family-owned restaurant on Russell St, serving traditional and authentic Cambodian food. I don't have it very often, but Cambo food is one of my favourite cuisines and I was super excited for this meal.
Featured dishes:
🥟 - Wonton soup [$7.5] - pork and prawn wontons in pork broth - a nice light starter, reminded me of the wonton noodles I had every morning for breakfast when I was in Cambodia
🍢 - Beef skewers [$10] - lemongrass beef skewers - delish!
🍜 - Kuy Teav [$16.9] - pork broth with sliced pork, minced pork and more w/ vermicelli - a very clean and light noodle dish, you can tell by just looking at the crystal clear broth - the perfect recovery food after a night out ✨
🍜 - Khor Ko [$16.9] - signature thick beef broth with tender stewed beef, beef tendon, tripe and beef balls w/ egg noodles. This dish is super hearty and flavourful ✨
🍚 - Fried Chicken on Rice [$15.9] - marinated fried chicken served w/ an omelette, pickled veggies and homemade fish sauce on rice w/ a side of pork broth - a very classic Asian dish
All of the dishes we ordered tasted very clean and light. The portion sizes were generous and the flavours were great. My favourites were the two noodle dishes - I'll defs be back for them!
I love having home cooked Cambo food and it would be amazing if there was a restaurant that served dishes like pork stuffed bitter melon soup or Cambodian...
