Friend's birthday chose in Namoo Izakaya, before I have been passing by the door feel open shop design, combined with tree-inspired interior design, really romantic and very atmospheric sense 🥹, feel the feeling of summer nights in this drink a little wine and eat Japanese food feeling is really very comfortable. And this restaurant is also good for dating, next time I'm going with my favourite boy hehehe~
👇About the food I've eaten at so many izakaya and Japanese restaurants in Melbourne, Namoo really has a lot of dishes, including hot pot, sushi, various kinds of wine, sashimi, grilled chicken kebabs, main courses, desserts including bingsu, cheesecake, etc., so you can satisfy everyone's preference when you're having a party.
-Recommended Menu -Sashimi Platter Sashimi Platter Personally, as a sashimi lover !!!! I feel that this shop sashimi is very fresh, and the master knife work can be seen to eat the texture is quite delicate, fresh seafood and fresh sashimi, combined with wasabi and soy sauce aroma, really delicious ah ah ah ah !!!!
-Tempura Udon Tempura 🍤 Udon Noodle 🍜 The prawns in this tempura 🍤 are really big, I must say! Deep-fried tempura with soft udon noodles, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, soaked in udon noodle broth, so fresh and delicious !!!!!!
Namoo Platter Japanese BBQ Platter Grilled platter with a variety of different kinds of ingredients, which contains grilled chicken kebabs, grilled shrimp, grilled mushrooms and so on, meat ingredients grilled to tender and juicy, I have to say that this shop grilled level is a little bit of excellence, grilled to a crispy golden result of Japanese dipping sauce, a good time 😋!
Bingsu We ordered the Strawberry 🍓 Ice Cream, this ice cream is made with milk, the texture of the ice cream is silky smooth and melts in your mouth, and the strawberry pulp blended together, refreshing and unctuous!
-taco yaki I once ate a Japanese chef's okonomiyaki, so I think this one is really good, this one has no sense of preparation, it's freshly made, and with the flavour of the woodchuck!!!! The freshly baked mokume gane feels like it's...
Read moreMy husband and I found this hidden Japanese cafe gem on Queen Street and it hits me enough to urge me to write a review straight away ( Im not really a big reviewer tho). The cafe/restaurant was quite quiet on a Sat night but as a quick chat with the owner, they have just opened beginning of this year. The restaurant seems nice and spacious from the outside yet we actually felt quite cosy, maybe because of the welcoming hospitality of the staff, very friendly and helpful with lots of smiles on their faces. Decorations are very cute and detailed in each corner Regarding food, it was so delicious. We started with gyoza ( very thin skin panfryed, yumm) and eggplant with miso sauce ( Im a huge fan of this dish and have to order it in every Japanese restaurant). Im so in love with the texture of the Wagyu Nabe soup while my husband really enjoyed all the cold dishes especially the Caspaccio King Fish ( Yuzu or cirtrus) and the Teriyaki BBQ skewers. We especially got a special treat from the chef with the Tuna Tataki and it was so fresh Tuna was melting in the mouth. We also tried the dessert Matcha ( Greentea) and Sesame Panna cotta homemade 👍👍. Pity that we were so full we couldnt try any of the hot plates. Cant wait for next time to be back as price is very reasonable for quality food. Another pity that they dont open late at night ( Maybe because they open from 7am-9pm?)
Another plus point is wheelchairs and pram accessible ( ramp on the side of the restaurant) and its spacious so easy to move around. Last but not least I highly recommend this place because I think all the stores that are using or shifting to a more eco-friendly packaging and system should be recognised. Little act helps the environment even tho it may increase the business cost. They earned so much points from me using paper straws and bags. Im gonna be your...
Read moreMy partner and I arrived at 5pm without reservation and the waitress told us we had to leave at 7pm for next reservation which was fine with us.
I ordered teriyaki chicken set $21 and my partner ordered bbq spicy pork belly set $26.
When the food arrived, we were obviously shocked! Look at the portion??! We didn’t order kids meal, obviously. There were like 7-8 tiny pieces of chicken on top of the rice which was not worth $21 and the rice portion is unjustifiable for the price!
It is misleading from the picture too. I’m someone who had Japanese dishes my whole life, they do not put the dish on top of the rice, it should be placer separately.
The chicken was so dry and it’s a Korean restaurant but pretending to be Japanese. The side dish was neither Japanese nor Korean.
Not to mention the table was rocky too.
Finally, we finished our meal at 5:45pm, checked our phone because we both had to go home to continue our work. So I was just having the last bit of my soup, while holding it, the waiter came over and said he wanted to take our tray away. We looked at him strangely and he insisted he wanted to clean the table. While we are still having the last bit of food??????
I will not recommend this place for the following reasons: Misleading business - The business name is “Namoo” and they have all these Japanese rice set available but the none of the food there is Japanese including the side dishes that came with our meal. It’s a Korean restaurant guys, don’t get fooled by the name and the presentation on the menu. including the employees, they are all Korean.
Value - for the price you pay, you get better value, standard and portion somewhere. This is just not worth it.
Spent $47.70, we left with hungry stomach and went to McDonalds...
