We came here on a Thursday evening, knowing very little about Somali cuisine and we got serve a delicious lesson and an unforgettable experience. We ordered a Chicken NSK classic, Tender Goat pieces with spiced yoghurt on flat bread and warm lamb salad with grilled tomatoes. They didn’t have the grilled tomatoes and instead got more chicken ribs as a replacement. What a great gesture. We didn’t order the lamb broth but got it as complimentary, it was packed full of flavour and punch! The flavours of all the dishes are simply umami packed and so complex that it makes you go back for more food. The NSK classic rice is well flavoured, sultanas are a great addition and the chicken is falls off the bone moist and we kept going back for more. The red sauce is not spice hot and is packed full of flavour. The lamb on bread is also amazing but the green sauce is what takes it to a whole new level. I would buy bottles of this stuff if they made it in bottles and use it on all grilled meats. Lastly to finish off we had cake and sweet cinnamon tea which was complimentary. We really got served a great Somali experience! There’s no feeling of thirstiness after the meal which suggests there were no MSG used. Huge recommend if you’re in Flemington for a...

Went here for the first time recently - absolutely brilliant! Never eaten Somali before so that was a new experience in itself. Sat down and immediately received a jug of pink smoothie (delicious), a banana each and a bowl of lamb broth - so many amazing flavours! All of this is free - and before we’ve even ordered our mains. We had the mix plates - on the menu they come with lamb but they let me substitute for chicken. Huge portions! The plate had rice, samosas, falafel balls, spiced meat and a green dip of some sort. There was also a bowl of mango coulis with yogurt, nuts and honey. ALL of this for $19 - what a bargain! The food was so flavoursome it was also lovely and spicy. I noticed that some of the regulars used just their hands to eat - something which I am totally down with! All the best foods are eaten with your hands (fish and chips anyone?), but there is also cutlery if you wish. They have a sink in the dining area for you to wash your hands before:m/ after the meal - so hygiene is very important here. We were made to feel very welcome and we both felt lovely and relaxed. If anyone is looking for a cheap, big, flavoursome feed and service with a smile then this...

They're very passionate about what they do and will do anything to make your experience better. The environment and aesthetic is welcoming and homely, whilst keeping that modern feel. The area is spacious, enough to accomodate customers. Everything is centred around the Somalian tradition, from receiving a bunch of free bananas symbolising their culture and prosperity to be enjoyed alongside the meal to being rewarded with either fresh baked sweetbreads to spiced gelatine pudding for your curiosity. Wherever you are, this place is highly recommended. Why travel? Let Somalia...

Absolute banger of a restaurant. Generous portions, tasty, meat falls off the bone & tastes just like Hoyo’s food. Will be coming back for sure
