I went to Zam Zams on recommendation of Mark Weins popular food blog.
Arriving at 2pm I was suprised how busy the place was. We grabbed the last table for the 4 of us. Proceeded to the bain maries where you get to select your meal options or alternative to the curry and spicy dishes was a fish and chip chicken and chip menu to order fresh. We ordered Fish curry x2 and lamb curry x1 then random vege dishes for our Vegetarian aunty. We were asked if wanted rice or roti to accompany our meals. We opted for roti. Our tray of food was transferred to another bench and staff member? We mentioned that we had ordered Roti from the previous staff member to where this staff member looked confused??? The service area is chaotic. Could not make out what system they had in place? The lady at the cash register was screaming at the servers. The servers by all account were working hard but the system in place was not working big time. Chaos Chaos Chaos. Our server told us to pay for our food at the register. The lady at the register did not even say the minimum greeting "hello". She was rude. If I didn't have my aunt and uncle with me who were hungry I would of walked out purely from the rude lady at the register who later found out was the owner? Her story of how she has grown the business is amazing and kudos to her. However in business of hospitality your popularity and repeat patronage relies on afew fundamentals. Food, Pricing,Service. My fish curry was yum. I honestly enjoyed it so much. The roti was warm and fresh. The lamb curry was very mild in flavour and tasted like something I could make at home but very very oily. The okra and pumpkin was enjoyed by my aunt. So overall the food for the 4 of us, 3 of us enjoyed our meals. The pricing I would say is pricey for pre made bain marie food. The service needs so much attention. It is a disorganised mess. The owner yelling from the cash register is unprofessional. This can be fixed and improved with little effort. The bathroom was disgusting. The restaurant and the new upstairs decor was lovely and comfortable. However the downstairs toilet needs urgent attention. The new extentsion upstairs should of included a revamp for the bottom restaurant bathroom. This reason and the rudeness and arrogance of the owner is the reasons my family would not be...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this incredible Somali restaurant, and I must say—I’m beyond impressed! From the moment I walked in, I was met with a welcoming atmosphere and outstanding customer service that made me feel right at home.
Food: The food was absolutely top-notch—hands down the best Somali cuisine I have ever tried. Every dish was cooked to perfection, bursting with authentic flavors and made with high-quality ingredients. Whether you’re a fan of classic Somali dishes or trying them for the first time, you won’t be disappointed.
Seating & Ambiance: The restaurant offers an unbelievable seating area, making it a perfect spot for all diners. What truly stood out to me was their thoughtful inclusion of a dedicated section for Muslim sisters who prefer a more private dining experience. It’s a space where sisters can enjoy their meals comfortably and peacefully, which is such a rare and appreciated touch.
Customer Service: The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every guest was taken care of. Their hospitality, attentiveness, and friendly demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers.
Affordability: On top of everything, the cost of the food was amazing—affordable without compromising quality. Given the exceptional taste and generous portions, it’s truly great value for money.
Overall Experience: I can confidently say that I will definitely be coming back—this place is about to become my go-to spot. Whether you’re dining solo, with friends, or family, it’s a must-visit. Highly,...
