Had Hong Kong style congee for $15. Very large serving and congee had fish cake, duck, calamari, nuts, crackers and a subtle home cooked taste. Perfect for a cold winter meal. Update 270725 Scallops with Chinese broccoli $32.50, Deep fried chicken ribs with egg yolk $25. Quarter roast duck $14. 1 X steam rice $4. Scallops were big, juicy and firm. Not pan fried though so don't expect crispness. Chinese broccoli was very tasty, crunchy and juicy with a glistening coating. Roast duck was tender with meaty sections and skin was crispy enough. Fattier bits were more greasy. Chicken ribs had a nice dry salted egg yolk coating atypical of wetter Malaysian and Singaporean varieties. Also not overly salty or oily. Called in advance for booking for Sunday evening and glad we did. Fast moving service with cramped seating. Long queues at the door even on a wet winter evening. Service for all 3 dishes came within ten to 15 minutes of ordering which startled us slightly. And we noticed the next table was serviced equally quickly.

I recently visited this restaurant and tried their 3-way roasted meats; duck, char siu, and crispy pork. The duck was definitely the highlight: juicy and flavorful, though I wish the skin had been a little crispier. The char siu was just okay, nothing too special. As for the crispy pork, the skin was nicely done and crunchy, but the cut I got had way too much fat with very little meat, which made it less enjoyable. I also ordered the pipi with XO sauce along with an extra serve of Chinese doughnut and a bowl of rice. The XO sauce itself was excellent – rich and full of flavor – but it hadn’t fully infused into the pipi shells, so the dish wasn’t quite at a 10/10 level yet. The Chinese doughnut, however, was fantastic: light, crispy, and perfect with the XO sauce. Price-wise, the total came down to $68 for everything. Overall, some hits and some misses, but definitely worth a try if you’re after roasted meats and XO-based dishes.

To avoid disappointment, I recommend you call ahead and book a table. We arrived to a very long line of people waiting for a table, however we had a booking and were seated after a few minutes. It makes perfect sense that this place is popular. The food is just authentic and cooked to perfection. Since it was a special occasion, we ordered the lobster with egg noodles. The server showed us the live lobster they would use and it tasted extremely fresh. Our favourite dishes that we order every visit are: Salt and Pepper Chicken Ribs Tofu and vegetable stir fry Mongolian Beef Sea cucumber and mushroom 3 roasts - duck, roast pork, bbq pork Salted fish and chicken fried rice All came to around $470. We had an additional serve of chicken ribs and roast meats. There was 7 of us and we were extremely full in the end with three containers of leftovers to enjoy the next day. Highly recommended. One of the best Chinese restaurants ever.

Previously we would visit this place knowing that it would be noisy and cramped but was in a convenient location for us. For the past few times, we noticed we were being overcharged. The final straw was when we came for dinner, cramped onto a smaller table even though there were larger ones available. The menu offered "rice per head" which we have had multiple times. This time, when we ordered more, we were told by a staff member that they would charge us for a refill as it is "per bowl". This lady who had served us multiple times prior, pretended to not know. She argued that she was correct. When we showed her the menu, she said "OK, I will give you one refill". On principle, she cannot provide us with one refill if we are charged per head however we did not argue as we were full anyway.

When paying the bill, we were surprised that the boss was not at the counter (to which he always is) and they had charged us for the refill! So again, we had to bring it to her attention that we have been overcharged. There were no apologies or acceptance that they are wrong! They have every right to change the pricing of their food but not after the food has been ordered!!

Not only were we overcharged, we were made to feel that we were in the wrong.

Please check your bills before paying and seems like you need to confirm the prices prior to ordering to avoid being ripped off as they do not take responsibility in incorrect pricing.

Food- mediocre, salty, small portions for the price Ambience- noisy and cramped Service- dishonest, rude

Will not be coming back here. Be careful if you do!!

Parrot House was my family’s go-to restaurant for quality BBQ meats. We had purchased takeaway whole ducks, crispy pork and BBQ pork on 5+ occasions. Recently they have dropped the ball in terms of customer service. On one occasion, we had phoned to confirm prices due to the new year. The staff were wanted to get us off the phone and did not listen to the simple questions asked, then gave us answers that did not line up with what we were met with in-store. Once we were in store to purchase our duck takeaway, my dad had to order twice as the cashier rolled his eyes and did not respond the first time. We also asked for either crispy or BBQ pork and were met with the same attitude. My dad asked a second and third time only to receive the reply, “we’re out.” Having worked in hospitality before, I understand that when times are busy it can be hard to keep up. But, this particular day, we had arrived before midday and there was not many customers. The whole interaction took about 20 minutes, including waiting for our duck to be prepared. In this time only one other customer had ordered takeaway and there was only 2 tables seated...
