Prince Alfred Rooftop & Bar — Restaurant in Melbourne

Went here with a few friends for there student O-Week celebration. Wow, free entry, super good drinks, prices and a good DJ upstairs. Unfortunately the major let down of the night were the bouncers - upon waiting in line to get into the venue one of the bouncers decided that instead of doing his job he'd rather ask for a phone number from a student from the venue and then proceed to call it to confirm it was a real one. Later during the night as I headed into the bathroom to my surprise this same bouncer was hiding in the stalls and searching any student who entered for alcohol they brought in from outside the venue. I think a solution to this would be to search people before they entered. Aside from this it was worth going and I really hope the owner sorts their bouncers and does more future student deals because the drinks were...

Relaunched after an extended hiatus the Prince Alfred is now under the umbrella of the 100 Burgers Group who are clearly working hard to make an impression. On first glance the refurbishment of the interior is rather modest ... mostly cosmetic with a more complete overhaul of the tired old bathroom facilities.

The Landlord's stated goal to continue the venue contributing to "student amenity across the extended campus" is unlikely to succeed given the price point of meals on the standard menu. There is a good value $15 express lunch menu with very limited options (4) and on a recent visit the chicken served was (dangerously) under cooked.

To attract students and academic staff they will need to start providing...

23 Jun 22... lunchtime...Very unhealthy food wise... Young cook was constantly eating using his hands during food prep. I saw him plate chips... Then eat a chip... Then plate the next plate. Constant food consumption. I even saw him lick what I suppose was salt off his fingers. Touching peppers .. eat a chip. Then touch carrots... Eat a carrot. He was constantly eating and chewing. No gloves. Raw salad on a plate ... eat a chip. When I told the bar staff he was actually chewing at the time! Gross and dangerous during these COVID times... Never seen such a flagrant disregard for health code. I feel he was even staring me down when I pointed it out to my table...
