A Disappointing Experience of Neglect.

My recent visit to Queen of Sheba was marred by a series of disappointments. Despite booking a table through Quandoo for 7:15 pm, the restaurant seemed oblivious to our reservation upon arrival. The makeshift seating at the back, akin to a deposit area, was only the beginning of our unpleasant experience. A promised imminent table never materialised, and after 45 minutes of neglect, I found myself seeking assistance at an unmanned front counter, only to discover the staff engrossed in the kitchen.

Even after a reminder, the service remained lacklustre. The staff's forgetfulness reached new heights when I had to assist in joining tables. An agonising wait, 50 minutes beyond our booked time, led us to a table, only to face further apathy from a different staff member who removed menus without taking our order, even as I reminded them that we wanted to order.

With an hour-long wait and no progress, I reluctantly decided to leave. While the staff maintained a polite tone, their actions spoke volumes about their inconsiderate and rude service. Sadly, I cannot find any positive remarks for Queen of Sheba and won't be considering a...

We thought we would try Ethiopian tonight, and after reading google reviews on Queen of Sheba decided we would give it a go! We were not disappointed! From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel welcome and the menu explained to us. Our wonderful host was friendly and quick to offer recommendations, and once we had ordered, food was promptly prepared and brought to our table to share amongst our family of four. The Vegetable combo was AMAZING, and so was the fish and lamb tibbs! We didn’t know if we would need more injera, but there was plenty for all of us. We followed dinner with some traditional Ethiopian coffee where the beans are roasted hot, and the smell was soo lovely! Coffee was brought out with a traditional incense, and served by our lovely host. We didn’t just have dinner at an Ethiopian Restaurant, we received a traditional experience tonight, and we are so grateful to our wonderful host! Highly recommend, and such a wonderful cultural experience. Food was absolutely delicious, and the coffee was amazing. We...

If I could give 10 stars, I would! I came here for a small family dinner with my parents after my dad had discovered the restaurant a week prior. The owners of this restaurant, Aboud and his wife Weni, are such beautiful people with big hearts. They were so accommodating and hospitable, super friendly, kind and warm. They made us feel so welcome and treated us like family! Weni is an amazing cook, the food was delicious, hearty and healthy. We felt so satisfied after eating. I highly recommend this wonderful Ethiopian restaurant. It was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I'm very impressed - can't wait to try more dishes! Another thing I'd like to mention is how clean the place is - the tiles were literally shining. Aboud said he puts in a lot of effort with the cleaning of the place and it really shows. The ambience was also super cosy. There was nice jazz music playing and beautiful art on the walls. Overall I am very glad I had dinner with my parents here...

From the moment I stepped into this gem of a restaurant, I felt like I was back in Ethiopia. The aroma of spices, the warmth of the staff, and the vibrant atmosphere immediately made me feel at home. Every bite was a trip down memory lane - from the perfectly spiced doro wot to the soft, tangy injera, everything tasted authentic and made with love. What truly stood out was the attention to detail and hospitality. The team made us feel like family - generous with portions and even more generous with their smiles. Whether you’re Ethiopian or someone who’s never tried the cuisine before, this place welcomes you with open arms and serves culture on a plate. If you’ve been craving real Ethiopian food or want to experience something beautiful, this is where tradition meets taste. Trust me - you’ll leave full, happy, and planning your next visit. Highly recommended. Got there hungry, left with your heart full.

Absolutely loved our experience at Queen of Sheba in Footscray! From the moment we walked in, the hostess was incredibly welcoming and helpful, especially appreciated as it was our first time trying Ethiopian cuisine. She guided us through the menu with genuine warmth and knowledge. The food was absolutely delicious! Every dish was packed with flavour, beautifully presented, and perfect for sharing. We were all so impressed and left feeling full and satisfied. Great value for money too—quality food at very reasonable prices. We’re already talking about coming back. Highly recommend to anyone curious to try something new or looking for a fantastic meal in a relaxed, friendly setting. Can’t wait to return!
