Edit june 2024: The old folk let younger ones take over but its the same, they haven't done a single thing to improve the food or shop just do enough to stay in business. Other charcoal places make a dark thick gravy with real flavour, these guys still using light watery slop. You can see the consistency it's literally thickener with water and a bit of chicken flavour, they fill up your tub generously because it probably costs nearly nothing. These places including next door fishnchips ALWAYS rush your order out even when no one's in the shop, frying chips white and soggy. Constantly have to ask for extra crispy, they always say Yes Ok but half the time they still get it out fast and its still soggy. Their new potato skewers is just the same potato cakes, the chicken salt one had no salt. $5 but inconsistent sizes, last time huge this time small. Lunch pack has 2 fried chicken, asked for 2 thighs they didn't allow it only 1 thigh 1 small drumstick. I've ordered here like 50 times.... its a small thing but doesn't make you feel valued as a customer, just feels kinda stingy especially when prices slowly creeping up. I notice they always put the chicken at the bottom and chips on top even when you get a dinner pack in a huge box. Chickens already in warmer, chips are hot in a box, seems like a convenient trick to give you less chips by filling up the bottom with chicken first. Crispiness isn't an excuse if you ACTUALLY FRY THE CHIPS PROPERLY, a good HSP - slabs of meat, cheese, 3 sauces on top, is more crispy than this place sometimes...... Even though they're nice and cheerful (only the lady is) they don't care enough about your food. At some point convenience doesn't beat mediocre food, had enough won't be coming back.
Their fried chicken, chips and gravy is my go to. Chicken is great, crispy and goes nice with gravy. Their gravy is honestly "just there", needs some pepper or something and its either too lumpy or too thin, its honestly quite bad but I buy it anyway to not make my own gravy. Chips are nice and crispy when you ask for extra crispy. The old guy is always nice to me, but the older lady is sometimes a bit moody. I think nowadays they have a bit younger staff takeover, the 30s lady with glasses tied up hair makes the best dinner pack. The place could use a bit of cleanup sometimes, doesn't look nearly as nice as the fish and chip shop next door. I doubt they even read...
Read moreYuck. Absolutely appalling. Ordered the schnitzel burger. When I opened it, it was still as pink as anything. Like barely even cooked. When I told the ladies at the counter, they were annoyed that I had complained. They offered to cook the chicken a little bit longer, despite it already touching the rest of the burger. I said no I didn't want another one, I was turned off it and the idea of them just fixing it, and not replacing it. They were hesitant about offering me a refund. Rudest staff I've ever encountered. As if a chicken shop can't even cook their chicken properly. Lol
As for the picture: the girl working cut the schnitzel in half for it to fit into to the burger, how she did not notice that it was still pink...
Read moreOverall it wasn't a bad experience. It's your regular charcoal chicken shop with lots of fried options and meals printed on the menu. If you need a feed and on a budget, then this would be one of those places to get the fix. I had the 1/4 chicken and chips with can combo. Chips were fried fresh so it was golden and crispy. Although a little bit salty, it did work out well with the chicken meat, which of course isn't salty itself. Although I'd probably have this meal with sauce if you want more. You can of course get gravy on chips too. They also had fried rice and noodles in the baine marie if you want different type of carbs or as an extra. The chips in the meal was also quite generous (as seen in the photos). It was...
