I really really really love this place. The ambience feels like a cozy cafe that you would find in the middle of a small town, but instead we can find that right in the heart of the city!
In terms of their menu, I’ve tried a number of the selections by now (but only the sweet side - still have to check out the savoury options), and every single dessert has tasted wonderful. The cakes and brownie feel decadent (just like the original sugary versions) but without the guilt of sugar consumption. The amount of sweetness in the desserts is also perfect. I feel the cafe promotes a very mindful consumption of desserts by making them indulgent but not overtly sweet, letting customers enjoy the desserts without leaving them craving for an endless amount of sugar. I would say though that the hot drinks are a little on the bland side - it would be cool to see the cafe experiment with different brand matcha, ube powders etc to make the drinks feel just as enticing too. I have noticed however that the same drinks, when in iced versions, taste perfect so perhaps the powders go better for iced drinks than hot versions. I also know that people may find the items on the menu on the pricier side but it makes sense to be honest, since there’re no other cafes like regretless where people with so many dietary requirements can enjoy themselves without fear or guilt, and so they are more of a ‘rare’ find and hence the prices.
The staff are also amazing - They make everyone feel welcome and they seem so kind just from the way they carry themselves in the cafe and in their interactions with each other. I hope everyone who reads this, gives the cafe a go and experiences the kindness of the cafe themselves.
Lastly, I’ve visited this cafe a few times over the past couple of years and I’ve seen the bakers come out with new cheesecake flavours every once in a while (and they’ve all tasted delicious!) but I’m also always looking forward to new experiments - it would be awesome to see regretless try out new desserts or flavours they haven’t used among their desserts before!
Oh, and one last thing! I don’t follow a keto diet necessarily but I do usually try to keep track of my macros. If possible, because I can see the carbs and calories for the food, it would be great if the cafe could also start with showing the protein (in g) for the menu too haha but that’s just a me thing. Keep up the great work regretless! Looking forward to forward to...
Read moreThis Cafe has a nice seating area enclosed and away from the rest of the mall. I could sit, relax and take my time.
I found the staff to be very friendly, eg. I said I hadn't been before, and he said don't rush my selection. He also helped clarify that the chai latte is a wet chai brewed on milk, not from powder, which is what I was after. The chai certainly had the most impressive presentation I've ever seen, with a glass beaker to pour from. It wasn't all that ergonomic and hurt my weak wrist a little! The chai was a little too peppery for my taste, but similar to others I've been served. Chai is always a bit of hit and miss, not knowing what blend they're using. The tea was a very generous serving size. The server came over to check if my chai was sweet enough, and offered me a granulated sweetener to add, in a cute little vestibule. I was also brought water later. My cake was spot on. Baked peanut butter cheesecake. Nice and sweet and salty without being too extreme. Very flavoursome. Absolutely delighted! While dining here is by no means "low calorie", at least you walk away satiated from fat and protein, not spiking your blood sugar not getting cravings for more sugar. My total was about $18, which is not cheap for a cake and coffee, however I think it'd a reasonable price for a specialised product. It's in China town, so do expect Chinese staff, customers, accents, etc. Though I was impressed to see Western flavour options. Ie some Asian style dessert shops in Melbourne are focussed on flavours I'm not familiar with eg. Matcha, taro, and just generally very creamy. I was happy to see chocolate, coffee, strawberry, tiramisu, cheesecake, etc that appeal to a less adventurous palate / looking for familiar desserts from childhood for me as a westerner. Yum! You don't need to have dietary restrictions to benefit from eating here, it's a normal Cafe for everyone, just with the benefit of low carb and no sugar.
They have free wifi, I'm guessing to compensate for the poor mobile speeds inside the mall. I still had 5G and 3 bars, but even google maps was...
Read moreFirstly the desserts were delicious! We ordered the Ube cheesecake, strawberry Mille crepe cake and matcha tiramisu. I regret taking my kids with me because they kept eating the desserts and couldn’t stop! We also ordered a matcha latte (divine, not too sweet, beautiful matcha flavour, rich and creamy) and a normal latte (very good). Secondly, it was so refreshing to go to an establishment where they are all about low carb and I don’t have to ask for a low carb version of my hot drink and have to explain what I want (while enduring questioning looks at times). The lovely server explained to me that they use cream+water+erythritol to make the “milk” for matcha latte, and I immediately felt at home! It’s a wonderful rarity and I hope they will be around for a long time as I definitely want to visit every time I am in the city! Wonderful job with the service, the quality of the food and the cozy ambience. Could you open one in the east please? (Glen Waverley/Doncaster etc?) We took away a Thai milk tea Mille crepe cake and a lime Swiss roll, as they looked too delicious to leave behind without trying. Thank you Regretless...
