Roll'd Hawthorn — Restaurant in Melbourne

I ordered a bahn Mi with chilli for lunch today. I sat down at a table. After waiting for 15 mins I noticed that a customer who had come in after I had placed my order, was given what looked like a bahn mi. I asked the employee whether my order was given to the other customer as I noticed that no further bahn Mi was being prepared. The response was 'Sorry I made a mistake. I gave it to the wrong customer. I'll make you another one. I responded okay, he'll be surprised! Please don't forget the chilli. A few minutes later she called out that it was ready. I thanked her and sat down to have my lunch, only to find to my disappointment, the roll was dry with hardly any to no dressing on the vegetables, and no chilli! By now I had lost my appetite. I called the assistant and mentioned that there was no chilli. Her response was " oh, I forgot! I'll put some on now" All this time I maintained being respectful and calm told her that I did not want the bahn Mi any more, and left the store. I won't be back! Please note: They were not busy as I was the first of three customers in that 30 mins that I was at Rolled. Probably the worst roll’d experience I have had to this day. I placed an order through EatClub for takeaway. When I arrived I was served by a hostile staff member: Mai (working 20/01/2022). I was told they turn the iPad off to not receive orders and refused to turn it on even though I have paid for my order and it said ready for pick up. No apology from Mai, an aggressive attitude and hostility, I was told I had to wait for another 20 minutes. My food was tampered with, I ordered no pate in the tofu Bahn mi and extra sauce, they put pate in the last bite and zero sauce. I imagine this was on purpose given the hostility of the customer service staff. Honestly I don’t believe Mai should be in customer service. The store was not busy. I cannot imagine how much more money this store would be making if she did not work there. I will go to a different store...

It's easy to see why Roll'd is always so busy as the food is so tasty and well priced.

The bahn mi is packed full of flavour and the rolls were so fresh. I love how they have low carb options for the rolls, the barramundi one is especially delicious.

Highly recommend trying the flame grilled prawns as a side, they're small but the batter has a spicy kick and is so tasty.

My favourite thing we ordered had to be the baos. The bao buns were fresh which was impressive as they're so often dry at other places. I tried BBQ chicken and lemongrass beef and couldn't decide which I preferred - they were both so tasty! I'll definitely keep coming back to order...
