Rye RSL how hard is it to serve a decent senior chicken parma?? A no brainer really, since our last visit to your establishment was really positive. The food previously was great. Well not the case on Sat 3/5/25. What happened? Looked like you had a table of 20 having a Birthday celebration, but restaurant pretty quiet apart from that??Took my elderly folks for lunch to Rye RSL. We ordered 3 meals. 2 senior meals (fish & chips, chicken parma & 1 prawn tagliatelle pasta). Out of the 3 meals, chicken parma was terrible, should have sent it back but didn’t want to make a scene in front of my folks. I now regret not taking a photo of the terrible dehydrated chicken parma served. What I found interesting was just as I had finished paying for the order & then ordering drinks, the food was served. My response was “oh that was quick”. The parma was tiny & not freshly made, clearly had been kept warm, as the crumb on chicken was dry & a knife barely cutting through it & the 4 chips on plate were cold. I got up & ordered another side serve of chips as I thought I was served a kids meal. $37 for a dehydrated kids parma & extra serve of chips is a little excessive. Very poor quality & unacceptable standard....

I had a disappointing experience at this venue due to the unprofessional and insensitive behavior of the staff at the entrance. Upon arrival, I was wearing a beanie and instead of politely informing me of a no-hats policy, the lady at the door abruptly asked if I had an illness — a completely inappropriate and invasive way to address the situation.
I calmly tried to explain that there are more respectful ways to approach this type of conversation, especially considering that some people wear head coverings for medical, cultural, or personal reasons. Unfortunately, she shrugged and dismissed my attempt at educating her, making it clear she wasn’t interested in listening or improving her approach.
It’s deeply disappointing to be treated with such a lack of basic courtesy and empathy, especially in a hospitality setting. I hope management addresses this and trains staff to speak to guests with more respect and consideration...

Disappointed with Security at the Door
I rarely leave negative reviews, but after multiple unpleasant encounters, I felt it needed to be said. The security guard at the entrance of the Rye RSL is consistently one of the rudest and most aggressive individuals I’ve come across in any venue. He always seems angry, unhappy, and forceful in his approach — it creates a really uncomfortable and unwelcoming vibe.
I’ve had at least three separate run-ins with him now, and each time he’s been unnecessarily rude. It’s disappointing because the rest of the venue and staff are great, but this one person at the door leaves a lasting negative impression. I really hope management takes this seriously — someone like that should not be the first face you see when arriving.
He worked last night Sunday...
