The new kid on the block started off on a stingy note.
i visited the new restaurant last weekend and was super excited to have a new eatery in Mordy. We entered the restaurant and the decor inside on the left was really nice. Looking to the back of the room the painted skull murals were bold, bright and querky. But i felt there were too many themes fighting each other. The counter was marble like a hairdressing studio and the wall opposite was a black and white unfinished spray paint of roses and flowers. It felt a bit like a fever dream.
Let's talk about the food. I had the fajitas. The rations of lettuce, beans and rice were placed on a small plate barely enough to make 2 wrapped fajitas. The chicken was tastey but again it felt stingy. Then we had dessert. I had a hot choc cookie. The chocolate tasted cheap like it was purchased from the nearby nqr. The frozen drinks were placed in a shallow cup and again felt like we were getting ripped off. My point here is customers can see when cheaper alternatives are used to save a buck or two. Also don't charge your customers when they ask for more sour cream cos u put not even a teaspoon for a meal.
This place has potential to be a really cool place. I hope this is taken more as feedback...
Read moreAs a family who frequent local Mexican restaurants on an almost-weekly basis, we were super excited to see Sol Agave open and couldn't wait to visit. Sadly, it was a bit of a disappointment. The service was very friendly, and the food wasn't bad as such, it was just really bland. When I think Mexican food I think lime juice, coriander, freshly-diced tomato...none of this seemed to be present. To be honest, even just a bit of salt would have helped.
My only serious complaint is regarding them not letting kids over the age of 9 order from the kids menu. Expecting a 10-year-old to eat an adult-sized portion, selected from an adult-oriented menu that's already pretty limited to begin with, is absurd! What they clearly aren't taking into account is the fact that a lot of kids these days (and in this area in particular!) have ASD-related eating disorders and/or are on ADHD medications with various appetite-supressant side-effects. Make it hard for their parents and you simply won't see them again.
There are at least 4 other Mexican restarants between 5 and 10 minutes drive from Mordialloc, none of them have this policy and all of them have better food. I would like to see Sol Agave do well, but I think they'll need to...
Read moreI arrived for my booking for two and I felt like it was a tin of sardines squished in the restaurant.i did ask for a quiet area on requesting my reservation but lady said she would try BUT there isn’t any when I arrived as it’s all congested elbows nearlly touching the other people
I was squished in to row three and the noise well, I couldn’t even hear my partners talk. It’s a great place if you don’t want to talk to anyone because you can’t hear anyone
I left within minutes because the noise volume was extreme. Might be Good to go for a feed that I didn’t get that far, but I like to talk to my partner and hear what he is saying to me when I go out for tea with him. I feel they should limit the customers to they enjoy their evening out as not all about the money. I overheard the boss telling them to keep them here to the waitress as I looked unenthusiastic about the restaurant
Ended up two doors down at a restaurant that wasn’t overloaded with patrons in a booth with nice music, I could here for italian which we enjoyed and relaxed for the evening and amazing meal
Just didn’t expect the HUGE volume of people, in such a small area in a restaurant but will try for lunch as dinner...
