YOMG Mordialloc — Restaurant in Melbourne

I had a really terrible experience on 7/8/22 around 5 p.m. I ordered a burger, a shake, wings and ONE brownie to go.

The lady behind the counter said $46, it sounded a bit high to me but whatever. I paid. I suspected I might have been overcharged, so I asked for a receipt. On the receipt it said the brownie was $10, so I went on their website and saw that brownie along with ice cream was $10.

So I went up to the lady that served me and clarified to her that I only wanted a single brownie and not any of the ice cream. She said that's fine.

They gave me my order and as I was leaving I checked the brownie box to find a single brownie in there. I then asked 2 staff members on the dessert side of the store if this was right. I said $10 for a single brownie is a bit high, don't you guys usually weigh the brownies and charge by weight...to which one of them said they used to weigh them in the past but no longer do, and the other one said they never weighed them at all. (which are both lies)

I asked them if they were absolutely sure and they both said yes, and one of them made a remark about how he didn't set the prices. Completely rude and unnecessary.

Not to mention that both the staff members blatantly lied to me about not weighing the brownies!

The woman who served me was staring at me while this was happening, so I went up to her and said, there must be a misunderstanding. Don't you guys weigh your brownies before selling them? She then says "Ohh I see what I've done here", says she can refund me then agrees that yes they DO weigh the brownies.

I get my brownie which after they weighed it, ended up costing $3 instead of $10 and the lady just says "thank you" and walks away. No apology for overcharging me or making the mistake.

Meanwhile I was made to look like the bad guy to other patrons, thinking I was being difficult or something.

I never leave bad reviews but this was the wierdest experience i've ever had, where the staff lie blatantly, don't admit to making mistakes or apologize. And made me feel like I was crazy for asking why I was overcharged.

Some of the staff are useless, incompetent, rude and dishonest. Their customer service was horrible...

A reasonable joint for frozen yoghurt.

It gets increasingly busy during the night, so it’s not as fast or carefree as you may hope.

Machines are constantly out of order, and I believe better communication between the staff and customers could help quell the consistent sense of confusion/border-line panic you’d feel in a space like this. Even just popping a sign up on whatever flavour is currently empty/out of order would save the embarrassment of every second customer trying to break the pump to see if it works.

I would not recommend this place to anyone who may feel overwhelmed in small, crowded spaces - as this is exactly that. It’s not the establishment’s fault that they are so popular, but they can definitely take some responsibility in ensuring a safer, more seamless experience for everyone by making it crystal clear which flavours are working, and which are not.

The toppings also get extraordinarily messy during rushes throughout the night, and this could be helped by staff cleaning up a little more proactively, and of course, customers being a lot more careful.

Overall, you’ll get what you want from this place; whether it’s a frozen yoghurt or a burger. Whether you’ll get it in a timely fashion or without everyone pushing and shoving to get their own is a...

This chain looks set to take over the burger scene and they do this with my full support; their venues are so modern and trending and they are always jammed packed full of people so the atmosphere is electric.

This particularly spot is near the beach so next time I might even get takeaway and go sit by the water. On this occasion I opted to try a different shake the Maltpleaser which is my new favourite. My dining companion had the Picnic which was also a good choice. I loved the tasty crunchy bits of malteaser throughout. You actually experienced the texture as well as the flavour of these yummy delights.

Whenever I visit a YOMG it seems inevitable the order is a luau luau and a kingsway burger and this was no exception. We did however seek out the specials for our fries and tried the butter chicken loaded chips. I had expected them to be lathered in curry sauce but they actually had butter chicken pieces atop the fries. Definitely something a bit different which I enjoyed.

And no visit would be complete without the obligatory pile it high fro yo where you engage in the fun of creating the most monstrous cone possible. What can I say? I’ll be back as...
