I turned up for a midnight fix after reading rave reviews, with all expectations exceeded! I was met by Thanasi who was proudly serving, with explanations and suggestions as it was my first time. I went for a lamb souvlaki combo, with chips and drink.
No joke, the souvlaki was 1kg minimum LOL and the exceptional battered chips were overflowing! The in-dining was clean, welcoming and well equipped with cutlery and napkins.
Now to the important bit: the LAMB! Wow, I reckon I have NEVER had better Charcoal Spit lamb than this (Sydney or Melbourne); perfect balance of fat-to-flesh lamb with zero gristle, leaving a delicious, moist, mouth explosion of Greek Goodness! I am not Greek but I felt like Zeus tonight LOLx2. Wow their marinade is incredible; not weak nor is it zesty-strong, but just right, leaving a meat feast to savour, on a oh-so-fluffy warm Pita!
Nothing more to say - I only get this descriptive on reviews when well satisfied LOLx3! I have a large family and I am getting the meat packs (will try chicken AND lamb next time) or Souvlakis to go, when "starved" of cooking options! But hey, dine in straight from the spit is always the preferred option, so will be back at a family-friendly time!
Check out this place if around Preston. Hell even worth the drive, if somewhere on the Australian East...
Read moreMy wife and I sat inside this place for the first time today and had a souvlaki each. I had ordered one mix gyro combo with the lot for myself and for my wife a chicken giro. I specifically said no tomatoes and no garlic sauce for the chicken souvlaki. The young guy serving me at the time asked me if the mixed gyros was with the lot and I said yes with every thing in it where as for the chicken gyros my wife always has it with no tomatoes and no tzatziki sauce. After paying we sat at one of the tables and waited for our order. Once our order had been served to us I notice that my wife's chicken gyro was perfect with no tomatoes or tzatziki sauce, I had the mixed gyro with only onions in it even though I asked to have the lot in it. I sensed that some making the gyros was confessed. I mentioned this a few minutes later to the girl who had made the souvlaki and said to her that I will eat it anyway but next time don't make these mistakes. She said that they can make me a fresh one but I had half eaten it so I wasn't going to be greedy and say yes. One of the older guys heard the conversation and didn't bother to ask or even acknowledge it so I left it at that.
All I say now is that this time the...
