If you're looking for a foodie's dream meal, then St George's Restaurant at Polytechnic College Preston is definitely the place for you. We were warmly greeted with a smile by Jiro, the best Maitre' D. He has extensive knowledge in regards to wine and food pairing and which meals complement well with dishes, such expertise and matched our meals perfectly. We also had the loveliest server in training (give him a gold star!)who attended to all of our dining needs along with Jiro. The food is high quality, incorporating fresh seasonal local produce and beautiful ingredients. I'd expect nothing less from these extremely talented apprentice chefs in training as the presentation is outstanding, like works of art. I had the Chimichurri Seafood pasta for my main and Asian style scallops for entree. All seafood cooked to perfection with bursts of beautiful zesty flavours in the pasta and notes of Asian flavours with the scallops. Such generous portions and absolutely beyond worth the money. My dining partner had the Texas style brisket, coleslaw and chunky fries which were all absolutely delicious(I stole some 🤣). He also had the Charred Lamb salad which was delicious, amongst crisp salad leaves, walnuts and feta with a lovely light dressing. And then came the most beautifully presented, coconut Panna Cotta, creamy mountain of delight, covered in slightly toasted meringue with a tangy raspberry coulis, so good and let's just say we more than approved! 🤣. With beyond reasonable prices, delicious food, excellent service and atmosphere, you'd be silly not to check out this wonderful hidden gem within the heart of Preston as you're definitely missing out. Thanks so much Jiro you were fantastic and we will definitely...
Read moreKeep in mind this is a student run restaurant and you may, depending on who is serving, get sub par service or food. Generally it was good while we were there. One waitress was decidedly terrible and unable to help with almost any request without help. The other was good without being outstanding. Restaurant was empty yet it was hard to get their attention for service. Food quality and presentation were overall reasonable with high quality intent but some minor, noticeable flaws in execution. Atmosphere is lovely and menu selection is wonderful if you're happy with classics and not looking for innovation. I'd suggest only going if you have the patience to be part of these young people's learning. In return you get generally good, classic food at a very...
Read moreFor anyone wanting to experience some unique dishes served with class and a smile from the training staff...this is the place. Be it a casual lunch or a group celebration you will not be disappointed...truly, the only disappointment I ever experienced at this first class restaurant is on some occasions seeing the place half empty and that's because not too many people know about this gem. Nevertheless you still need to book and...for a three course meal including your choice of coffee for under $35??? and there is also a great selection of drinks and mocktails and cocktails for the ladies for that special occasion. Highly...
