We spent a week in Melbourne and I was on a quest to find the best coffee I could find, and I'm always on the lookout for a good breakfast place.

Stagger Lee's was hands down the best flat white I had in the city. I won't list all the places I went, but in the 8 days I was in melbourne I had at least 2 flat whites a day. Melbourne is perhaps one of the BEST coffee cities I've ever visited, and that's saying a lot as I love my coffee. Something about Stagger Lee's coffee was perfect, it had the right amount of richness and boldness without any bitterness, and it was perfection. There were 4 of us, and three of us ordered another round of flat whites which is the only place we've done that haha.

I talked enough about the coffee, let's talk about the food! All I can say is WOW! We all enjoyed our dishes. I ordered the Burrata, Spiced Pumpkin, Pickled Beets, and Chili Maple Cashews. It was outstanding, everything matched so well from a taste and texture standpoint. You have the creamy almost sweet burrata, the tangy beets, the crunchy cashews, all with a wonderful dressing. What an outstanding dish.

Finally, the workers there were super efficient and friendly. One woman working there reminded me of Kate McKinnon from SNL. I mean that in the most complimenting way possible, just a bundle of good...

Went in and ordered a milkshake with some friends. We were informed that they couldn't make the specific milkshake we ordered, so we asked if we could get just chocolate milkshakes instead. Our server said that they could make those so we happily waited for our milkshakes. It took us getting through the entire milkshake to realize what they had actually given us was stirred milk and the likely reason that they couldn't make the other milkshakes was because they were out of ice cream. At no point did any staff tell us this. Went to the front to pay off the tab and the person at the register (who we had not interacted with at any point) said "sorry about the sh** milkshakes" (so obviously the staff communicated amongst themselves about the issue, but for whatever reason clearly did not want to tell us what was going on). They then asked us to pay the full price for the milkshakes, and not wanting to cause a problem, we begrudgingly paid the full price of three milkshakes. I feel like we were taken advantage of. Please do better and never treat customers...

Local area I’ve been living in the area for over 20 years and I love the cafe but the day I went in, it just so happen to be a really wet day in Melbourne, staff did their best to accommodate a busy cafe and customers due to the weather, we didn’t have much of a choice seating wise so we were propped up in front of the window inside and about half way into the meal I felt some drops on my head didn’t think much and then it turned into a decent waterfall leaking from the roof and rain water got on my food and in my coffee and on personal belongings and it was busy around us and we couldn’t sit anywhere else so I was forced to stand while eating eventually staff realised what had happened and tried to get us a seat elsewhere but by that stage I kinda just felt done, one of the managers apologised as we went up to pay but I was hoping for at least the surcharge to be removed from the bill as a sorry for the inconvenience or at least a free coffee, I get it Melbourne weather sucks. Might go back again in the future but probably not for awhile. Kinda...

I recently visited Stagger Lee's in Fitzroy and ordered the "All Day Seeds n Greens" salad. I was hoping for a light, refreshing meal, but I was disappointed by how heavy it turned out to be, mainly due to the excessive amount of oil. The crispy kale seemed deep-fried rather than baked or air-fried, and the broccoli was heavily coated in oil, which made the dish overwhelming. I couldn’t finish it and asked for a takeaway box, but the oil seeped through the cardboard and even started dripping, which was very off-putting for a salad. I initially tried to provide this feedback via email, but the email address listed on their website returned a "domain not found" error. It would be helpful if this could be updated so customers can share their feedback directly. I appreciate the effort that goes into the menu, but I’d love to see a lighter, more traditional salad option in the future. I hope this feedback helps.

Walked past here in search of a late brunch, saw the sidewalk was packed and decided to give it a go. The menu has the standard cafe fare but also some interesting additions, like Anchovies! My slow braised lamb shoulder was so tender, flavoursome with spices, and well paired with a harissa hollandaise. The slightly crispy hash brown, charred brocolli, fennel and parsley salad complemented the richness of the meat. The two poached eggs burst in my mouth, completing a delightful and generous meal. Service was very minimal but adequate - I prefer ordering by QR code when it's like that. This is a popular spot with a retro feel. Overall, the dish was so good it outweighed everything else.
