Sushi Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

Definitely not 5 star sushi as the initial reviews suggest. There simply isn’t enough range, quality and freshness to compete with a premium sushi restaurant/take out. Furthermore the prices are above average so you’re not getting 5 star prices either.

The service was fair and sushi was fine and this would usually warrant a 3 star rating from me but at the time of my order they were unable to provide a itemised receipt or invoice despite my request. They only provided a receipt which stated the final amount and ABN, and employee assured me that this was still suitable for the Victoria dining program which I trusted him on. John and his family serve the best over the counter Sushi that I've ever had, I take my kids out to Balwyn especially for this Sushi, we live half an hour away. The seafood is fresh and he get's it from a trusted supplier, the taste and texture of the fish is what separates this place from all the franchise stores. After eating here, I never buy sushi anywhere else unless im in an actual Japanese restaurant. The staff at sushi cafe is absolutely wonderful, so be sure to pop in on Fridays and ask for Justin! Incredibly kind and helpful just like the rest of the team.

That aside, the food here is unequivocally appetising and appealing. The shrimp/chicken udon is a must have alongside their California rolls. They have a wide assortment of different hand rolled sushi as well as sushi plates for those who hunger for more than a quick brunch.
