I don't normally write public reviews but I felt compelled on this occasion after reaching out to the restaurant privately and only ever receiving a very insincere automated apology with no attempt to address our concerns whatsoever.

We had been looking forward to a lovely dinner with our family visiting from the UK. Unfortunately, when our meals arrived they were luke-warm to cold. After requesting politely for our dishes to be reheated our dishes were returned to us cold again. We asked for a second time for the food to be reheated. The dishes came back to us for the third time only mildly warm and barely passable considering this had been the second time we had requested our food to be reheated. By this stage we felt our dinner and experience had been ruined. The waitress did apologise for the food being cold but no one took any real initiative to correct the situation or make things right.

We spent a significant amount of money on our dinner and the entire group of six people left feeling extremely underwhelmed with both the food and service. The following day a number of people experienced abdominal discomfort, bloating, stomach cramps and diarrhoea in just a few hours from leaving the restaurant.

Needless to say we expected so much more from such a beautiful venue. unfortunately the food and service was not acceptable for the price point and it's quite incredible the restaurant didn't care enough to even dignify our complaint with a personal response. Given our poor experience I could not recommend this restaurant to others.

** Update: Chris reached out to us directly after our complaint. He was very good at listening to our concerns. Chris went out of his way to address all our concerns and was extremely generous providing our group of 6 with a wonderful evening showcasing the best of Happy Valley restaurant. Really appreciated the personal touch from Chris and it’s reassuring to know our first experience was an aberration and not a true reflection of...

This place deserves ZERO STARS!!!!

HORRIBLE MANAGER - In fact the worst I have EVER come ACROSS. I honestly cannot believe how rude this 50-60 year old Asian man was to us, its unbelievable. We were given the wrong food item and when all three of us at the table said 'we didn't order this', he told us we did and that was that. He then proceeded to have an argument about it, rather than take it away and give us what we ordered. I cannot believe this is how THE MANAGER conducts himself. We had no choice but to accept the food and eat it, as the manager made it very clear that he was not going to remove it from the table. We also just decided to accept the dish to avoid further arguments. Then the manger decided to give one of us at the table a small dessert (which was a scoop of icecream). I thought this was a peace offering for his screwup, a way to say sorry guys please accept this scoop of icecream for my horrible treatment of you. But no, he gave the dessert item to one of us only and placed one spoon on the table and said 'this is only for your sir', despite three of us at the table. I told him that was extremely rude of him to single us out for his mistake and he he put his finger in my face and started literally yelling at me and being VERY aggressive and argumentative whilst calling me rude. I've never encountered such terrible management before in my life! HONESTLY DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND DON'T EAT HERE. The food is WAY overpriced its not good, very average Chinese food. In fact theres AMAZING FOOD about 100 meters down the road at MISUZUS. At MISUZUS you'll find super lovely staff who get the orders right, and they don't abuse their customers and force them to eat food they didn't order, and the food is delicious and...

It was a warm day so we were looking g forward to getting inside to air conditioned space. The atmosphere seemed nice and it was very busy . It was not a good start however when the head of staff was rude to us for coming in the wrong entrance? Then dismissively told us we’d have to sit on the high table with stools or come back another time?? Anyways, we allowed that he was stressed from the lunch rush. Then once we finally got served it was a very long wait for our food to arrive! A few of the dishes were really good and I loved the eggplant dish. But some were terrible ( ie: meat dry and tedious to eat. The Chinese greens had a sauce that was sour and tart). Wish they could have had a decent Rosé or even a decent sparkling wine. We went again a week or so ago and unfortunately the experience was not good! The dish’s i chose: the wild mushroom dumplings ( very bland)& crispy eggplant ( too much batter barely any eggplant! & smothered heavily with sweet sticky sauce which was yum to taste but way too overpowering in volume). Partner got the 100hr crispy pork hock. It was really dry n not crispy unfortunately. ($39) atmosphere was quite dull. The music dreary. It’s quite a nice space that could definitely be uplifted with the right tunes playing in background.. felt like a retirement village on this day. Maybe on a good day you might enjoy yrselves if you don’t mind the prices and hit...

A chinese restaurant within the Albert hotel pub. It’s a big space with high ceilings, plenty of tables, large bar and outside area too. I was unsure initially of the concept, it was strange not to be in the usual hustle of a chinese restaurant and served by Asian wait staff but it worked! Our waiter was delightfully chatty and was quick to answer any questions and find out if he was unsure. There was a happy hour of $5 drinks between 5-7pm which was great as we were there for it. We shared a few dishes between the 3 of us. We got: Half shell scallops which were cooked perfectly. The sauce was delicious and really brought out the flavor of the scallop and the noodles added some substance to the dish. Five spice silken tofu was a great crispy texture on the outside and silky smooth in the inside. The xo sauce gave the dish a nice finishing touch and provided a great accompaniment to the tofu. Singapore squid was really fresh and the sauce was rich and full of umami, perfect for the squid and to add to our rice. Asian greens with garlic sauce was cooked well and not overpowering with the garlic. Spanner crab fried rice was a nice & crunchy and was the right carb to go with the other dishes we ordered to soak up all the lovely sauces. It was an enjoyable visit, great place to catch up with friends & it got nice and busy as we left.

Nestled within the lively Albert Park Hotel, Happy Valley Chinese is a modern Chinese restaurant that deserves all the love! 📸 From the moment you arrive, the buzzing vibe engulfs you, with patrons enjoying the vibrant front bar and the bustling restaurant section. And let's talk about the service, our night was made unforgettable by the incredible host, Tom! 🎉 His expert recommendations and delightful banter took our dining experience to the next level. Let's dive into the feast: * We kicked off with the Chicken Sanchoy Bao, a flavor explosion that set the tone for the night. 🍗 * The Steamed Wagyu Dumplings? Unreal! Perfectly seasoned, meaty, with a pastry that dreams are made of. 🥟 * The Chicken and Chive Pan Fried Dumplings were little parcels of joy, a true standout. * And the pièce de résistance, the Pork Hock! Slow-cooked to perfection for 100 hours, then rolled in its own crackling and fried. Watching Tom chop it at our table was a spectacle itself. We wrapped it in fresh lettuce, and it was a symphony of flavors and textures. 🥬🐷 Paired with vibrant Asian greens, this modern Chinese dining experience was a revelation. If you love Chinese cuisine with a contemporary twist, this is your spot! Highly recommended for the food, the vibe, the service, and the atmosphere! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Ok so I don't know where to start as we still expecting someone to tell us that that plate they gave us was joke.. We ordered crispy seafood noodles on the menu..as it says we expected noodles with seafood. What we get instead is 3$ worth crispy noodles literally, out of pocket and put it in the plate(which usually being used as a plate decoration in restaurants),,2 piece undercooked prawns and 2 piece of scallop and 3 tiny piece calamari. It came with a dark sauce on the side, which obviously stayed out for too long it had that weird taste and smell. We were pretty schoked to see the plate and it took us some time to believe what we received. As a professional chef who is travelling world for the food tasting, that was the worst Plate EVER . I got really offended to get that plate for 42$... But the waitresses was really lovely really helpfull and smily.we really enjoyed the cocktails and the service.but after receiving the noodles we didn't order anything else and left. I mean come on, whoever made that plate..I see it's cost effective plate but what's the point when you loose customer for ever?
