Came from an afternoon football match for drinks with a friend who is moving overseas, arrived at 7.45pm. Made sure to attempt to research the dress code, the website said smart casual, "Better wear proper pants to the football just in case!" I thought to myself.
Bouncer denied me based off being too casual, one tells me to put on a collared shirt, one says to dress like i'm attending a wedding, another says to change my suit pants to a nice pair of jeans... I begin to remark "I feel as if suit pants are better than jeans," but i'm interrupted by a fourth bouncer who wasn't involved in my conversation, "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU FEEL!" he yells (first of all, who are you The Rock? No because that man has talent.) "YOU DON'T GET IN UNLESS WE SAY YOU GET IN!" In shock I tell the ogre to calm down, that I understand he's just doing his job but that there is no need to act so callously when i'm having a perfectly reasonable discussion. The bouncer who originally denied me proceeds to blame Dane Swan and his rules to my face.
I uber home, get changed, uber back and within 40 minutes a line down the street to get in has built up (its now 8.30pm). I watch the football on my phone for half an hour as I wait, it was a good game, the Demons vs the Cats, little did I know I should have just stayed home and watched it in bed. I finally get to the front of the line and get charged $20 for entry, which had not happened to my friend who got in 15 minutes earlier. So turns out I'm $60 down before i even get upstairs.
I had two overpriced Asahi beers in my near six hours in the venue, as there were almost half hour waits at the bar each time I went up. I also couldn't risk filling my bladder and needing to go to the toilet due to the giant cues of dudes struggling to find a place to take illicit substances. At least I can take solace in the fact that by staying inside and not spending any more money I prevented someone else waiting for someone to leave so that they could come in from further lining the pockets of anyone involved with this trash heap.
At this point in time I feel it necessary to mention that The Albion had the stickiest floor of any venue I've ever stood upon. This is the type of "exclusive" venue I avoided at 19 years of age, I certainly didn't feel welcome a decade later. Here I was thinking we were moving away from ridiculous watering holes such as this, yet it would seem countless clones flock here like buffalos to, well, the afformentioned watering hole. And wouldn't you know it, a bunch of the dudes I encountered throughout the night were wearing t-shirts and ripped jeans... so I guess the dress code only applies to some people.
Terrible bouncers, terrible prices, terrible patrons, I strongly advise anyone still reading to avoid The Albion like the plague... that is unless you're looking to be cramped and...

**Location & Aesthetics: The Albion Rooftop, perched in an enviable location, is a striking example of urban sophistication meeting contemporary design. Its strategic positioning not only offers easy accessibility but also provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the cityscape. The aesthetic appeal of this rooftop bar is unparalleled, with tasteful decor that exudes a chic and modern vibe, making it a perfect backdrop for those Instagram-worthy moments.
**Beverage Selection: One of the highlights of The Albion Rooftop is its extensive alcohol menu. The bar boasts a diverse range of options, catering to the tastes of connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike. However, it is notable that the prices are somewhat higher compared to nearby establishments. This premium pricing is a reflection of the quality and exclusivity of the beverages on offer, making it a worthwhile indulgence for those who appreciate finer spirits.
**Service Quality: The service at The Albion Rooftop presents a mixed bag. While the general service tends to lean towards the slower side, the bar service compensates with its efficiency and swiftness. The bartenders are not only quick but also exhibit a flair for mixology, ensuring that each cocktail is a masterpiece in both taste and presentation. This efficiency in bar service significantly enhances the overall experience, especially for those looking to unwind with a drink in hand.
**Culinary Offerings: When it comes to food, The Albion Rooftop offers a decent selection, though it doesn't quite match up to the high standards set by its cocktails. The menu, while satisfactory for a casual dining experience, might not impress those seeking a gastronomic adventure. The fare is best described as functional – good enough for a snack to accompany your drinks but not the main draw of the establishment.
**Atmosphere: The ambiance at The Albion Rooftop is lively and vibrant, making it an ideal spot for socializing, dancing, and soaking in the upbeat energy of the city. However, it's worth noting that this setting might not be conducive for families or individuals who prefer a non-alcoholic environment. The focus here is clearly on providing a spirited and dynamic experience for adults looking to enjoy a night out.
**Conclusion: The Albion Rooftop stands out as a stylish and energetic destination, ideal for those who appreciate good drinks, a lively atmosphere, and a stunning setting. While it may fall a bit short in the culinary department and in speedy service, its exceptional cocktails and breathtaking views more than make up for these shortcomings. Recommended for a night out with friends or a chic date spot, it's a place that promises a memorable experience, albeit at a...
