Today I visited Padre Coffee South Melbourne Market as I often do as my choice for coffee at south Melbourne market. On this occasion when my name was called to pick up my coffee another customer took my cup, put it to his mouth then returned it to male barista after realising it was not his order - all this as the barista watched on. Having realised the mistake the male barista called my name and handed me the same coffee. When I asked the barista to remake my order because the other customer put it to his mouth, he rolled his eyes, shook his head and grimaced, like I was asking too much from him. Firstly, recycling consumables is a breach of the Victoria food safety standards, which I am sure to notify the Victorian Department of Health re: food safety regulations. This barista treated my issue with contempt and obviously practices poor food handling hygiene. Appalling and ignorant behaviour. There are plenty of other cafes at South Melbourne market. I’ll be sure to spend my money where I won’t be treated to such pathetic customer service. I would highly recommend Market Lane and Cottle Coffee if you want great service and your coffee not compromised. Who knows what else this barista does to the customers food???? Hopefully there is someone with enough intelligence at Padre to address this issue but I will not go back. Spend YOUR money elsewhere where you won’t risk...
Read moreAs a person who works in hospitality, I have never encountered a situation like this and rarely write reviews. My brother came to grab a coffee takeaway today, and confused with the names being called out, he wanted to double check with the barista if his name was written correct as sometimes it can be spelt wrong. The worker scoffs and says in an extremely rude and arrogant manner “you are way off mate” with all the other waitstaff laughing and rudely mocking his sincere question, giving him dirty looks and laughing up until he grabbed his coffee.
My brother was genuinely shocked by this behaviour and was made to feel belittled and honestly humiliated when just trying to grab a quick coffee after having a busy and stressful day. This behaviour is truly unacceptable. This isn’t funny nor charming, and your staff should be trained on proper hospitality and not laugh at their customers, I am very disgusted to be honest, and we aren’t sensitive customers at all. Never EVER would...
Read moreThis is long, long overdue and Padre Coffee deserves all the praise. I've been on Padre Coffee's Fresh Crop subscription for a while now and hand to heart, they have never disappointed. They floor me with the breadth, variety, and freshness of beans they bring into our home, inspiring a deeper appreciation of coffee and what goes into the cup. My partner and I look forward to every shipment. Opening that box feels very much like receiving a gift and every sip, an exploration. It's been an absolute pleasure this past year and more! A subscription at 500 grams per fortnight is definitely cheaper than buying $4 coffees outside --what I make at home with the beans they supply more than rivals what I can buy from a good coffee shop, even on an Aeropress! So thank you Padre Coffee, and please continue the...
