REVIEW: 📽 From the hype on social media, I was expecting one of the best Burrata experiences I've ever had.
🔈 Unfortunately, Burrata is one of those really gentle cheese that is milky, light, with a soft exterior. Kind of like a quiet achiever that blends into the background if there's any loud characters in the room. 1️⃣ For the UGO, the porchetta had an amazing crackling skin and a savouriness that did overwhelm the poor burrata. It's also a generous/rich serving and I was lucky enough to split this in two with my friend. My other friends loved how filling the UGO was! 💓 2️⃣ Similarly, the fico bowl although lighter, didn't seem to emphasise the burrata. The artichokes were interesting while the mortadella had a mild pork flavour that really hit the brief.
I appreciate all these dishes as a whole, but for a joint that has Burrata in its name I would've expected the Burrata to be the main singer instead of the featured act. Now I know my favourite version of the Burrata is when it's left to shine, on a bed of basil pesto with focaccia and prosciutto on the side to be enjoyed leisurely. 📰
Nonetheless, glad to try new things and very thankful Ugo Burrata Bar gave me that experience! ❤ It wasn't for me, but it could be a...
Read moreI've wanted to try this place since it looked so good from TikTok and IG - and I was pleasantly surprised. Since it's at the South Melbourne Market, it's quite hustle and bustle so it's busy, but the quality of the food didn't dwindle. The guys working there were giving samples of their burrata to people that showed interest or just happened to be lucky when passing by, and were quite lovely and enthusiastic! I loved their energy even in such a busy environment, and not once did I feel pressured to order as fast as the hustle.
The burrata itself was fantastic - great combinations, super fresh and so easy to eat (also deceptively filling since it's cheese), but it's something I'd go for again to try their seasonal menu.
There is one thing to note though: since it's a market, there really aren't many seating areas, so you'll have to figure that out yourself once you get anything to eat there. Also, don't put too much salt and pepper on the burrata, the ones they give you are actually quite strong.
Overall, great place and definitely something I'd recommend. I'd give this place a solid 4.5 but since we don't have that I'm bumping...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of trying out UGO Burrata in South Melbourne Market, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight. As a self-proclaimed burrata enthusiast, I couldn't resist sampling both the UGO burrata and the salsiccia burrata bowl.
First off, the staff deserves a shoutout for their exceptional friendliness and fun vibes. They were incredibly engaging, inviting all customers to try their delicious burrata dishes. It added such a lively atmosphere to the experience.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the burrata. Each bite was a creamy, indulgent dream. The UGO burrata was wonderfully fresh and creamy, while the salsiccia burrata bowl offered a delightful twist with the addition of sausage.
As someone who's obsessed with burrata, I can confidently say that the quality and taste of the burrata at UGO are outstanding. It's clear that they take pride in their craft and sourcing the best ingredients.
Overall, my experience at UGO Burrata was nothing short of fantastic. If you're a fellow burrata lover like me, this place is an absolute must-visit. Trust me, you won't be...
