The Courthouse Circa 1884 — Restaurant in Melbourne

My husband and l had been here once before, so it was an easy decision to choose Circa 1884 for my family to join me, when celebrating my 70th Birthday. As there were 10 of us, they set us up in an area to ourselves, which made it a bit more personal. We all enjoyed picking out cocktails from their extensive list. And if we weren't too sure Nick from Circa, was excellent in recommending something to suit. And then l ordered a mixture of tapes platters to come out during the night, again with the help of Nick. The food was amazing. During the night l was just looking at my family, chatting, laughing, enjoying the food and drink, with the perfect music to enhance the atmosphere. I could not have asked for a better night of celebration. All my family absolutely loved the venue, cocktails and food. Thank you Nick and all the other guys, to make me feel so special and giving the best night, even better than l thought it could be. I came here to brag about my experience.

My husband surprised me for a date night here tonight and I was so impressed.

I’m a huge mixology / cocktail critic and I take my cocktails very seriously - these guys are more then experts. Their exquisite cocktail menu offers a great variety especially for those with specific taste! We ordered 6 different cocktails all of which were overly delectable. Completely blew me away.

We ordered tapas chips, olives, pork sliders & the platter all of which were absolutely delicious and complimented the cocktails very well.

The atmosphere is eclectic with its history, moody, gentlemen’s lounge style which I really liked, felt cozy like I was sitting back In the 1800’s but a classy futuristic feel at the same time.

Customer service by the whole staff was absolutely over exceptional. You guys completely made the experience levitate to a higher level. So classy.

Loved the bar, cocktails, food, experience, atmosphere, customer service.

So happy we live only a 3 minute drive away! Our new favourite...

You know how in all the magical stories there's always this place of rest and respite where the hero goes after solving the riddle. Well this is the place (Circa 1884) where you, the hero resides.

This is the outstanding place where you belong. And I belong too; I've had the menu, all of it. Some taste like a psyche ward* while others will lead you to ecstasy, though none are superior. Perhaps the unadulterated part of me wishes that they all taste the same, but we wouldn't have a range then.

If you like the name of it give it a go, you may be pleasantly surprised. For an entry level with an orange taste try the 'Sidecar'. It's one of my favourites.

Circa is a place where I go to read and write poetry and drink sumptuous libations. It's occupied my heart for an eon or two. Fellow the sage advice of the three maestros and you'll be in for a night of your life.
