The Rasoi Mt Eliza Tandoori Indian Kitchen — Restaurant in Melbourne

If I could leave a negative number of stars I would. We have been ordering from and eating in at Rasoi Mount Eliza for over 10 years. It was really nice Indian food and lovely staff. It is now possibly the worst food and customer service I have experienced. I called to place a delivery order over the phone and was told to order online using uber eats. I said I wanted to order directly over the phone and the lady said it was a hassle for her but “what do I want” takes the order and credit card and hangs up. 1.5 hours later still no delivery so I call and after sounding very confused said they order was on the way. 30 minutes later our order arrives with open bread in the bag. The butter chicken had possibly three pieces of chicken in it and they were all just fat and bone. We had to throw out the whole meal. Absolutely disgusting. We will NEVER eat any food from here again or any of their Indian restaurants in Mount Martha or Rye again. I did see they were trying to sell this business late last year but were obviously not successful, honestly they should give up and sell it to someone who will actually care about customer service and quality. Visiting dear friends in Mt Eliza, ended in an experience that will be very hard to forget. We decided to eat out as there was something we really wanted to celebrate. Having Googled restaurants near by, we decided to try The Rasoi Mt Eliza Tandoori Indian Kitchen. The booking was taken by such a polite lady who we later found out was related to Jag, the owner. What a night it turned out to be! We ordered the Tandoori plater, chicken Biryani, Butter Prawns and Naan. The food was exquisite. Being of Indian background myself, a keen cook of Indian delights, I was able to judge the quality of the food. Everything served resulted in us savouring every morsel. Jag, the owner, came out to welcome us after our meal. His extra special personal skills and his passion for restaurants and food certainly were obvious. We remained in his restaurant way past closing but he insisted on us staying and having one of the best most special evenings spent at a restaurant. The restaurant is fully licensed and needless to say we left in high spirits vowing to return again to our new favourite restaurant whenever our next opportunity comes along…soon!!!...

I must say, I was hesitant to order from her given some of the bad reviews, but everyone deserves a chance. First time ordering from here, and honestly surprised. Take away food portions are decent, food was tasty, enough spice, and well mixed balance of flavors. Service upon collection wasn't too bad and ready fairly close to estimated pickup time. Naan bread was also delicious and cooked perfectly. Perhaps one of the more expensive takeaway options, but definitely worth to give it a go. Restaurant didn't seem to busy when I picked up my order, but there were a few take-away orders waiting, which is testament to how popular this restaurants food may actually be.
