Kim & Li Chinese & Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

My favorite dish at Kim and Li is the combination omelet, however in saying that, it is not consistent. Sometimes it is delicious, full of ingredients, other times it seems the chef has been holding back a little. One thing I don't understand is why a Chinese restaurant has Thai on a large section of their menu. These are two completely different cuisines. I have tried the Thai from Kim and Li and it is not great. It was watery, very scarce with meat/veg and the flavor didn't taste authentic. I have seen that a Thai restaurant is opening in Mount Eliza very soon..I'm skeptical as a Thai restaurant has been done in Mt Eliza before, but I'm also excited!! The final thing I want to mention is the staff. The first time I dined here I thought the young female staff were a little pre-occupied, joking with each other in front of customers. It seemed like an in-house joke. I put it down to staff being on a high for some reason. My issue is that this seems to be a reoccurring thing that happens with the staff. Just bought fried rice with vegetables and satay beef with vegetables, and its the worst satay beef I've ever had! The beef was like rubber, and couldn't eat it AT ALL, so had to give it to the dog, so at least she enjoyed it, needless to say its good for dog food.....the satay sauce was like water with hardly any flavour, to say it's a satay sauce just misses the mark completely! Vegetables in the fried rice were what appeared to be dehydrated...over all a very disappointing meal of $22.90, and won't be going back again! We love Kim and Li , we are regulars for years since they first opened in Mount Eliza and always enjoy their food , but the staff are now so often rude , forgetting dishes , surly and unapologetic when they make mistakes . Last night we had dishes not delivered , cutlery thrown onto the table , so slow in responding , girls on their phones in the restaurant rather than attending tables - it never used to be this way but our last 3 visits have been the same .
