We have been to the Canadian Bay Hotel a number of times for dinner and had no complaints. Not tonight ! Yes. A Saturday evening and was packed. The layout of the restaurant gave me the idea that they put as many tables as possible in the area. Consequently hardly any space between the next table. Commend the staff serving tables with no space between them. Our starter was the garlic cob bread. Very tasty. No complaints. My wife and I both had steak. My wife opted for fillet steak, roast vegetables and red wine jus. First impressions was disappointing. Once the sauce boat was removed off her plate, it was pretty empty. Steak size was adequate and medium which was asked for. Vegetable portion was very small and tasteless. The jus was watery and also tasteless. My Porterhouse steak was adequate and medium. The steak was chewy in parts and no seasoning. The steaks I have had in the past have been excellent here. Not this time. The chips were crispy and fluffy inside. They were good. But the salad? Tasted old and dry. Had the mushroom sauce. Very nice except it was a little thin compared to others I have had. The staff were pleasant and did there job very well taking into account the crowded table conditions. Well done to them. Overall the food quality needs improving especially the presentation and portion sizes. We paid in the high forties each for the meals and with drinks nearly $120. Not value for...

Recently my partner dined with friends at the CBH. A used bandaid was found in the â Mexican chicken saladâ. Not a food grade bandaid, but a bog standard tainted bandaid. The waitress was great in showing immediate concern and went to get the owner. The owner ( who didnât even introduce herself ) was dismissive and blamed her new chef. She took no responsibility at all. The owners solution was to comp one meal!! This offer did little to appease the extreme nausea and shock of the table.
This soiled Bandaid was on the finger of a chef preparing all the meals for that service. The bandaid was not waterproof. Every diner was at risk that night. The owner (Gizzelle) didnât think this was an issue at all.
I spoke at length with Gizzelle who remained dismissive, showed no concern or knowledge of safe food handling practices and blamed everyone for the bandaid. She repeated â we run a tight ship here at CBHââŚ.clearly not! Total negligence!
Gizzelle reluctantly agreed to pay for medical costs and pathology for Hepatitis A screening. Gizelle committed to calling us back ( as she was going away for the weekend)âŚ..we are still waitingâŚâŚ..
Itâs a shame. Have been dining here for yearsâŚ:never againâŚ..Avoid...

From the first contact on the phone l knew it was going to be a good experience.
Then l meet with Giselle the owner and when she showed me their function room upstairs it was just perfect!
Giselle was so accommodating and flexible nothing was too much trouble, she let me come into the room the day before as well as on the day to decorate and they had everything available for us to use.
The finger food was delicious and plenty of it, the waitress and the barman were very friendly and efficient!
I've saved the best to last! Amanda who was the Manager on the night was so lovely and went out of her way to plan how the surprise would play out so my daughter didn't know we were all there upstairs waiting for her to arrive.
Thank you so much Amanda for all that you did on the night for us to ensure everything went smoothly, it was just perfect!
Everyone had a great night because the environment was so welcoming and relaxing, it is a credit to you Giselle and your amazing team.
