Really wanted to love this place, recently moved to Mt Eliza and it looks great from the outside. I’ll keep this brief but very factual. I was greeted by a very unfriendly, zero smiling waitress who just sat me down. I waited 5 mins before another waitress asked if I needed a menu. I ordered a milkshake and asked if it was a thick shake and was told yes, it wasn’t but whatever. I ordered my breakfast and added a few bits on. I sat inside, I was on my own and I was just watching the world go by. I unfortunately sat for just over 1 hour until my food arrived. In that time I watched the most miserable looking staff sulking around, no smiles no one being greeted properly, it was very odd. What I found even stranger was that the food sat on the pass EVERYTIME for over 5 mins before being taken out. Even with the chef ringing the bell multiple times and I saw the staff look at the plates sitting there and just carried on wiping tables and stacking glasses. Bizarre!
Anyway, food arrived after 1 hour and there were two items (extras) missing from the plate. I gave feedback to the guy (with glasses) and walked out without eating.
I drive to Blackbird in Mornington, the place was very busy but I was greeted with a smile sat down, given water and a menu and the food arrived (correctly) within 15 mins.
I would suggest the owner (Boyd) really train the staff to smile, greet paying customers properly, ensure the communication between kitchen and waitstaff is clear and tell customers that the wait might be over...
Read moreMt. Terrasse has the potential to be a great foodie destination, however the current service and some of the dishes will need to improve for that to happen. We tried the duck and pinot special one Wednesday night and the waitress who served us greeted us with an overly casual "Are you good?" which might work with her mates but isn't appropriate in a service setting when greeting diners for the first time. Furthermore, she didn't know what day of the week it was, correcting us when we tried to order the special, saying "Oh, I think that's only on a Wednesday!" Side note: it was Wednesday!
Food was ok but not outstanding - chewy and dry duck with fries and a smear of something on the plate, along with a glass of local pinot. The dish was exactly as advertised, not a smidgen more, so seemed to lack a little love. A small pourer of a pinot reduction/accompanying sauce would have elevated the dish. Hopefully this will evolve into something with little more love and finesse with time.
A great host, fab location and decor and promising menu, which has eager locals flocking - if only the food matched the hype. There's so much potential for Mt Terrasse to become a much-loved local - they just need to work on improving their service and showing a little more love...
Read moreLost me as a customer after being asked to leave a table for other customers, during Mother's Day breakfast!!! (I mean in what world does that happen?!)
Queued to be seated like everyone else, was seated by a waitress at an outdoor table with my young family, never told the table was reserved or had a time limit. Ordered our brekkie/coffee in takeaway cups because it's always a gamble taking young kids out for brekkie (!) Only to be told by a waitor mid-bite of my egg roll that other customers had arrived and we had to vacate our table!! Not that they had booked that particular table mind you.
Apparently the staff's inability to communicate with their customers that takeaway cups meant you weren't entitled to a table no matter if you had ordered breakfast, was our problem....?
Being told to leave breakfast with your young family, midway through eating said breakfast, on Mother's Day, in front of a cafe full of people is the height of inexcusable customer service.
Apparently they have a quantity over quality customer policy and despite living locally, we will NOT be...
