The Waterside Hotel — Restaurant in Melbourne

It starts off as your average pub night; good DJ, vibing with the crowd, bar tenders giving you his number, getting free double shots if the bar tenders like you... etc. And then you are met with disgusting, disrespectful, rude, and discourteous security. Saturday 22nd of June I was confronted by the worst security ever. He is an older, maybe mid 30s, nationality perhaps Indian, male. Early on the night he called me outside because I looked intoxicated- I was completely sober and was walking funny because heels are painful. As i told him that, all he said is "I'm keeping my eye on you." Later, that same security was standing in the ladies toilet, with the door wide open and was waiting for my friend. Yes she was feeling sick and i completely agree with him escorting her out, HOWEVER, DO NOT expose the ladies toilet like that. Especially for an older man watching the girls/ladies in the bathroom made so many people feel uncomfortable. The security was EVEN told to back off by a bar tender because he also felt it was wrong for this security man to be in ladies toilet and holding the door wide open for everyone to see our business... Unbelievable and...

I work there for a work function. Nice staff that were good at making sure everybody got to have some canapes and even made sure the vegetarian food made it to the vegetarians. All pretty good canapes, recommend the red lentil croquettes, salmon rice crisps and mini beef pies. Pass on the smoked eggplant and the sausage rolls are average. Fried chicken bites we're ok but not if you actually want to taste much chicken. Lots of crunch and salt though! Love the outdoor patio heaters and fireplace for sitting outside in winter and the sangiovese was good quality. Went to the waterside hotel for dinner on the recommendation of a friend. My experience was a large let down. My order or a medium rare rump steak with a side of the seasonal vegetables took 45 minutes and was definitely cooked medium-welldone. The vegetables was made up of just beans where I was under the impression there would be a variety of seasonal vegetables. The beans were luke-warm and chewy. The rest of my dining party had finished their meals before I had received mine. This is my first negative restaurant review and hopefully my last. Unfortunately I don't believe I will be returning...
