I've been in the CBD for over six years, and walking through the doors of Delhi Streets remains one of my most memorable experiences as an Indian. Initially skeptical about their four-star rating, my doubts quickly vanished once the food arrived. As an Indian, I can say that many of us are often reluctant to embrace new things, regardless of where we are. In this context, it's worth noting that if you're a hardcore traditionalist or a recent arrival, you might find the food here a bit Westernized to suit the Australian palate. We ordered two thali meals, selecting our curries from the list on the wall. The service was exceptional, and the view of the live kitchen, where a girl was making naan in a hot oven, added an informative and transparent touch. I've tried many thali meals, and it's one mine and my partner's favorite Indian dishes. The variety of curries offered in a thali showcases the diverse flavors of Indian cuisine. The Delhi Streets experience was one of the best meals I've had, and the pricing was reasonable. If I had to point out one downside, it would be the seating. It's a bit cramped but well managed. The seating overlooks the streets, which I personally find comfortable. However, I understand that this might be inconvenient for many Indians, even if it's insignificant in the context of Australian culture. Overall, the pricing is perfect for what you get, making it great value for money. The experience was exceptional, and I'm eager to bring my Caucasian and Asian friends here for a lovely meal. I'm sure they'll love it too. I 100% recommend this place if you're craving Indian food this evening. Thanks to the team at Delhi Streets!

⸻ I recently had the pleasure of dining at Delhi Streets Indian in Melbourne, and it was such a great experience from start to finish. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and friendly service that instantly made me feel comfortable. The staff were attentive without being over the top, and it was clear they genuinely cared about making sure everyone had a good time. The atmosphere inside was really nice—relaxed, welcoming, and easy to enjoy whether you’re there with friends, family, or just grabbing a casual meal. It had a good vibe without feeling too formal, which made the whole evening even better. The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was full of flavor, fresh, and cooked to perfection. You could really taste the quality in each bite. The spices were well-balanced and not too heavy, and the menu had a great variety so there’s definitely something for everyone, whether you like things mild or a bit spicier. Everything we ordered came out looking great and tasted even better. What really stood out to me though was the service. The staff were not only friendly but also really helpful when it came to recommending dishes and making sure we were happy with everything. It’s that mix of good food and genuine customer service that makes a place memorable, and Delhi Streets nailed it. Overall, I’d highly recommend Delhi Streets Indian. Between the excellent customer service, the tasty food, and the comfortable environment, it’s definitely a place I’ll be coming back to. If you’re looking for a spot in Melbourne with great Indian food and friendly staff, this is the one. The butter chicken was amazing ❤️

ORDERED: 🧆  Pani Puri: "Hands-on" street food! - 5 Crispy cracker balls stuffed with potatoes, chickpeas, tamarind/mint/yoghurt chutneys and served with spiced water ($12.00) 🍛  Mix Thali: Royal dish - Choice of any two curries, veg/non-veg served with rice, naan, pappadum and pickles ($18.00) 🍦  Pistachio Kulfi Ice Cream: Pistachio Sutra - Ice Cream delicately flavoured with pistachios, cardamom, and cinnamon ($5.00) I spent $27.00 here. REVIEW: It's great accessible Indian food. There were two elements that didn't hit the mark: 1. Pani Puri was too big for a mouthful. 2. No 'pickles' with the Thali - just vegetables. Apart from these elements, it was a good experience overall. Pani Puri gave that refreshing burst that shattered beautifully in your mouth and it's always my go-to if it's available on the menu. For the Mix Thali, I chose the Butter Chicken and the Malai Kofta. I like Thali because you get choose your own adventure with every spoonful. Ridiculous that it wasn't pickles (as mentioned in menu) with the Thali, but just regular vegetables instead. It doesn't cut through the heaviness of the curries, and also misses that interesting tangy refresher. Ended with and loved the pistachio kulfi ice cream. It's not overly sweet like typical Indian desserts. However, for those who don't like "herby" icecream, like my friends, you might want to avoid this. Service was straight forward, and they have 3 dining sessions to choose from. A little inflexible, but bookings are definitely recommended if you plan to go!

We recently visited this restaurant and, unfortunately, had a very disappointing experience.

We ordered Pav Bhaji and also took as takeaway. The Pav Bhaji was good, but most of the other dishes did not meet expectations. The Aloo Tikki Chaat was average – the tikki was extremely hard and difficult to cut into. The Paneer wrap was mostly filled with lettuce and leaves, with barely any paneer or salad. It felt unbalanced, and the sauce made it quite unappetizing.

In the veg thali, there weren’t many options. We chose the carrot curry and dal makhani. While the dal was decent, the carrot curry wasn’t enjoyable. The naan served with the thali was also undercooked and doughy, which made the meal even less satisfying. We also ordered the paneer pizza, but it lacked proper toppings and was overloaded with long-cut onions, which didn’t work well.

The atmosphere added to the disappointment. It was extremely noisy, and during our visit, workers were cutting iron pipes right next to the dining area. The loud sound of machinery made it impossible to relax or enjoy the meal. It didn’t feel like a pleasant or comfortable environment to dine in.

On top of that, service was lacking. The place is very cramped, and seating is always a challenge. The serving staff seemed nervous and unconfident — one of the girls even tripped at our table. While we understand that mistakes happen, this level of unprofessionalism has become too common.

We used to enjoy coming here, but sadly, the overall quality of both food and service has gone downhill. We truly hope the management considers this feedback seriously and makes improvements — especially with the atmosphere, food quality, and...

Delhi Streets, an authentic addition to Melbourne’s culinary scene, is a game-changer for Indian food lovers. This vibrant restaurant transports you to the bustling streets of India, serving up amazing vibes & flavors.

From the moment you step inside, the aromas and sounds of India how I remember it envelop you, making you feel like you're in the middle of a lively market. I was lucky enough to witness the owner himself making all types of fresh Indian hot breads using traditional techniques.

The décor is colorful and lively, with vintage Indian posters and rustic wooden accents.

But it's the food that truly shines. Delhi Streets' menu is a love letter to Indian street food, with dishes that are both familiar and innovative. The chef's attention to detail and commitment to using only the freshest ingredients result in flavors that are bold, rich, and utterly authentic.

Standout dishes include the tender and juicy Butter Chicken, the creamy and spicy Palak Paneer, and the crispy and flavorful Vegetable Samosas. Don't forget to try the fragrant Basmati rice and the soft, fluffy Naan bread, perfect for sopping up all the delicious sauces.

Delhi Streets is more than just a meal - it's an experience. The friendly staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, happy to guide you through the menu and offer pairing suggestions. The prices are reasonable, making it an excellent option for a night out with friends or a family dinner.

In short, Delhi Streets is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Indian flavors and a vibrant dining experience. Get ready to be transported to the streets of Delhi and indulge in a culinary adventure you...
