I recently visited Rivers Kebab & Grill on Flinders Street with high hopes of indulging in a delicious lamb pizza, only to be met with profound disappointment and a regrettable dining experience. The lamb pizza I ordered turned out to be a complete disaster, leaving me feeling both unsatisfied and physically unwell.

The pizza was far from fresh. The lamb topping seemed like it had been sitting out for far too long, lacking any semblance of freshness or flavor. It was evident from the first bite that the meat had seen better days, with a stale and unpleasant taste that lingered on my palate.

To make matters worse, the pizza was not even fully cooked. The crust was doughy and undercooked, leaving me questioning the kitchen's attention to detail and basic cooking standards. The combination of undercooked dough and questionable lamb only served to exacerbate my disappointment and discomfort.

Just for some background, I am a huge HSP enthusiast and have eaten my fair share over the last 5 years with Viva Kebabs being my original favourite back in 2018.

Having not gone back to Viva since then, I decided to try it once again to see if it maintained its quality. Looking at Maps, I soon realised that a new owner has purchased the shop and rebranded it to 'River' Kebabs. I decided to give it a shot and oh lord it was the best HSP I have ever eaten; loads of meat, and the most important of all... Crunchy chips underneath even after waiting 10 minutes to eat it when I got home.

The owner was super kind and as I watched him make the HSP you could tell he really puts his love and care in his craft of HSP making.

I used to love this place, had it all the time last year, especially the mexicana pizza. But lately the quality has been declining, the pizza would arrive burnt on the top. Not the biggest deal. Then toppings got scarce.

Yesterday took the cake: I ordered adana kebab, hsp and a drink. Only the adana arrived, didn’t bother me much though. It could have been an honest mistake. But a couple bites into the adana and I realized it was raw on the inside. It was literally pink in there. How could this even happen?

I’ve been way too lenient with this place given my past good experiences, but now I have to say, the quality is completely gone. My stomach still hasn’t settled from what I ate.
