Dog Friendly Hotel Melbourne - Hyatt Centric. We loved our stay at the Hyatt Centric with @eddie the chihuahua - our room came complete with dog treats, bed, balcony, toys and more. So nice to be able to have a luxury stay with your your pet! I think he likes the poolside vibes too! #dogfriendlytravel #dogfriendlyhotel #petfriendlyhotel #hyatt #australiantravel #melbourne #hiddengems @Hyatt

We had a weekend away to Melbourne for my husband's birthday. The staff organised a complimentary non alcoholic bottle of wine (we don't drink alcohol), and a card. I booked this place because I was looking for a decent pool- this was the best pool I've ever experienced. Modern, clean, lots of chill seating areas, shower to rinse off, pool towels. The gym is really big, they have 2 different sets of dumb bell. One set goes from 2.5kg-25kg, and the other tower of dumbbells goes from 1kg-10kg. There are gym mats, many different cardio equipment options, a cable machine, dip and chin up frame, 2x incline benches, complimentary towels and water, there was a funky dressed cleaner with face tats who was doing an amazing job of keeping everything tidy. The exec king suite with city view was great, everything you needed, enough room to move, table for 2 and a bench seat at the window. I ordered this room because I organised a mobile massage guy (Anthony- amazing, google him), and the massage table fit with ease. The bed was comfy, the pillows were great (some reviews say the profile is high, but it's not, it's squishy and on the lower profile side), and TV opposite the bed (was nice watching a movie in bed). Check in and out was a breeze. This place is really well staffed, everyone bends over backwards to help. Laurence was helpful in escorting the massage guy to our room to maintain a surprise. There are robes and slippers, coffee machine, kettle, tea, milk, Kevin Murphy bodywash shampoo conditioner soap bar and body cream (fancy right?!), sanitary bags, shower cap, dental kit, vanity kit, blowdryer, iron, hanging closet, hook for hair straightener. Shower, toilet, towels was clean and spacious. Saving the best for last. The BREAKFAST OMG. The concierge (a beautiful Asian background woman- don't know her name), escorted us to a table and always tried to give us a window table and took coffee orders straight away. The kitchen is lead by head chef Silva. This guy makes the best omelettes and the whole kitchen staff bend over backwards. I even overheard a pregnant woman mentioning this and Silva was straight onto it making sure the eggs were well done. Nothing is a hassle; you want dairy free milk, bacon cooked crispy, eggs Benedict, poached eggs, shakshuka eggs, another coffee- no probs! And again, this place is WELL staffed, so many people at your beck and call. The condiments for the omelette were a stand out for me- fried shallots, chilli oil, Coriander, fresh chilli, garlic ginger oil, soy sauce. There was an abundance of fresh fruit, coongee, rice or noodles, all the pastries, salad bar, cheese, cereals, all the cereal condiments, yogurt, salad- for a buffet breakfast, this is the best I've had in Aus. It is kid friendly (high chairs, lots of kids enjoying the pool and buffet), although we travelled without kids this trip. I read some of the reviews and felt compelled to do a comprehensive review as I think this is a very luxurious and affordable accomodation in the heart of Melbourne, I recommend including breakfast in your booking 🙌🏾✨️🧡

‏I booked a night in Deluxe King Room with City View 40 meters at the Central Hyatt Hotel in Melbourne as a surprise for my husband to celebrate our anniversary. I wanted us to have a luxurious 5-star experience with our daughter, enjoy a relaxing evening, and explore the city near Christmas time. Unfortunately, our stay was far from what we had hoped for, and I feel compelled to share my experience. ‏Room Design Flaws : The entrance door had minimal clearance, making it difficult to open fully. My daughter, tripped several times near the door due to its awkward positioning. ‏Uncomfortable Furniture : The room featured a fixed sofa near the window that was poorly designed. The mattress on the sofa slid off constantly, and the gap between the sofa and the window created a hazardous space with sharp corners. My daughter accidentally hit her head on one of these corners, which led to tears and even some bleeding on her foot. When we requested a bandage, it took a long time to arrive. I also injured my elbow against the same sharp edges. For older guests or anyone with mobility issues, this could be even more dangerous. ‏Poor Cleanliness and Amenities ‏ - The provided bathrobes were old, rough, and visibly stained. ‏ - The minibar was completely empty except for a few coffee pods, sugar packets, and three teabags—not what one expects from a 5-star hotel. ‏ - There were no child-friendly amenities provided. The bed for my daughter was old and uncomfortable, and it came with no blanket or proper bedding. Additionally, there were no toiletries like child shampoo, lotion, toothpaste, or anything thoughtful for kids. ‏- **Breakfast Disappointment**: The breakfast was incredibly basic. The only pastry offered was a small croissant, and there were no fresh berries like strawberries or blueberries, even though they are in season. There were no special touches like ice cream or a diverse selection of desserts. For a 5-star hotel, this felt very underwhelming. ‏- **General Lack of Comfort**: My daughter ended up sleeping with us because her bed was so uncomfortable, and the lack of proper bedding made it worse. My husband was visibly unhappy, and our anniversary surprise turned into a disappointing and frustrating experience. ‏I genuinely regret booking this hotel. For the price we paid and the 5-star rating, we expected much higher standards of comfort, cleanliness, and attention to detail. Sadly, our own home offers better amenities than what we experienced here.

Having stayed at Centric hotels in Montevideo and Miami before, I was curious to see how the new Melbourne property would stack up. Having stayed here in the first week of opening and then again just last month, I’m delighted to say that it’s amazing! Great location, just a block from Southern Cross station, amazing super modern rooms and a great breakfast on the top floor which was luckily free for Globalist members, otherwise quite overpriced for the tiny (but tasty) portions. Received an amazing upgrade to a one bedroom suite with bay views both times which is so much appreciated! Everything in this hotel is of a modern but clean design, very different from what you’d get at a Park Hyatt for example. There seems to be a bit of a Middle Eastern or North African theme going on in this hotel with lots of burnt red coloured tiles and big carpets as lounge seats by the pool- it also matches the cuisine style up in the restaurant. Interestingly, this is paired with very clean lines and simple wooden finishing and wooden floorboards in the room, something that’s more akin Scandinavian interior design. Very interesting and fancy without being overbearing.

We love this concept- way more modern than traditional Hyatts but still a classy high quality luxury experience. In style more like an Andaz but maybe one grade down from there. We encountered only a few little glitches with housekeeping during our first stay: Toilets not properly cleaned in days, finger marks left on all surfaces, dining room table not swiped a single time during our stay- probably all ours but it still doesn’t feel right just out of Covid lockdown). Luckily, it was all fixed quickly after complaining and I give them some slack during the first week (the few housekeeping staff we’ve met, have all been super stressed and rushed). On our second stay, everything ran much more smoothly so I think it just took a while to iron this out.

We loved the modern, very clean design throughout and the fancy indoor pool which was great for a splash or to hang out and relax even- we enjoyed that they played current EDM/pop music rather than the usual retiree stuff you have to often have to listen to in these places or the Melbourne-typical soft rock madness that they make you endure up at the restaurant.

All in all a great new addition to Melbourne- we solidly loved it and have already booked our next stay in March. Oh, one last remark: This property is clearly targeted at adults and not a place to drag your children to. Someone will bring their little screetchers sooner or later and piss everyone else off no doubt, but I would certainly not recommend it to families with young children. Plenty of places out there that are way...
