We were a group of 9 on a Friday night, looking for Italian restaurants in all the wrong places! We tried to book at another place but they didn’t take bookings. On our walk to find another venue, after finding one that the kitchen closed at 9pm, we stumbled across Vespa Rossa on Degraves Street. There was plenty of seating outside, but not any that would accomodate the whole group together so we got seating inside. Service was excellent, very friendly staff and quick to take our drinks orders. Carlos wiped down the table for us, then we were given water and cutlery straight away. The menu is a good size with a lot of classic Italian dishes, plus you can order breakfast at night! With such a large group, we got to try a lot of different dishes and all of them were enjoyable. We had pizzas, pastas, mains and cheesy bread to go with our cocktail and milkshakes. When we were done (and they stayed open a bit later for us), we were offered a couple of giant serves of tiramisu on the house. This is made by their chef. Twisted our arms 🤣 There was a tequila special that we took advantage of. I also did takeaway for a housemade carrot cake. It looks amazing but I’m way too full to find out how good it is yet. Vespa Rossa has such a great atmosphere. You would be equally happy to have a date or family meal here. Carlos and Cristina took good care of us and we were even allowed to split the bill at the end. Quite a rarity these days! I will definitely...
Read moreYou know a breakfast really leaves its mark when, five minutes after paying, you’re wondering if you actually ate or just imagined it. That was my spiritual journey at Vespa Rossa on Degraves — the culinary equivalent of a polite nod from a stranger.
Was it good? Was it bad? I couldn't tell you, and honestly, neither could my taste buds. It was food. On a plate. Existing. The kind of big breakfast that shows up, does the bare minimum, and clocks out without making eye contact.
If you're after a meal that avoids both offense and excitement with Olympic precision, Vespa Rossa is calling. It's in a cute Melbourne alley, so it feels like something special might happen — but spoiler: it won't.
They probably serve coffee. I drank something warm in a mug and felt slightly more awake, so... sure, let's call it coffee.
To sum it up: if your dream breakfast is something you’ll forget before your stool stops spinning, Vespa Rossa’s got...
Read moreWe went here for a dinner earlier tonight and we left shit broke. We ordered dinner that SHOULD have come out to $74 dollars, but we got charged a whopping $101 , almost 30 dollars over the actual price. We didn’t notice this until after we paid and left, and realised, that it was very pricy for what we had ordered. We added up the prices and realised we were severely overcharged. We called them up to resolve the issue and we were told apparently they charge a 10 dollar waiter fee, this was not advised anywhere in or outside of the restaurant, we were also told that we tipped them 20 dollars, (we didnt). Our issue did not get resolved and they admitted no fault in this issue. Not to mention they’re claiming their cokes were 6.50 each, which they also failed to tell us. Ridiculously overpriced, we got scammed and they had 0 intention of helping us with this issue, I have no doubt they did it entirely on purpose. Do...
