So, I recently visited Route Galette in Melbourne, and I must say, I was quite excited to try it out. I had read so many amazing reviews, and I couldn’t resist the temptation to give it a go.
The cafe is quite small, but it has a really charming rustic vibe. It’s a cozy place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or a delicious crepe. I was seated right away, which was great!
I ordered the veggie crepe, and it was quite tasty. But, I must admit, I was a bit disappointed. The crepe was a bit burnt on the outside, and the fillings were a bit standard.
Now, here’s where things took a turn for the worse. As I was waiting for my food, I noticed that the staff member preparing the crepes wasn’t wearing any gloves. He was handling ham and other ingredients with his bare hands! I was a bit shocked, to be honest. I mean, come on, hygiene is important.
I’m not sure what he’s touched or how clean his hands are. It’s just not something I’d want to see in a restaurant. And to top it off, there’s a glass panel in front of the kitchen so you can see how the food is made. That’s not something to be proud of, in my opinion.
So, after my disappointing experience, I’ve decided not to return to Route Galette. I hope they take some steps to improve their hygiene standards, because I’d love to give them another...
Read moreThis place has been in our to-go list for so long and we’ve gone past it so many times and they’re always so busy! Luckily last weekend we were able to wake up early and went straight to the place around 10am. Mind you, they opened at 9am and there was already people eating inside and a line outside, when did everyone get there?! 😂
We shared the La Lotus (biscoff crepe) 🍨 and Merguez (lamb & beef sausage galette) 🥩paired with double espresso milkshake 🥤 and latte ☕️
Both dishes were absolutely incredible! We can definitely understand why people are lining up to eat here 😍 The galette was so delicious, it kinda reminded us of borek but it might be because of the flavorful lamb & beef sausage. The crispy galette with soft fried egg and sausage filling gave a very nice texture combo that was so satisfying.
The crepe itself was a dream come true honestly, it’s the best crepe I’ve ever had. Also, the presentation was so cute! I didn’t expect that it will look like a coin pouch. The coffee milkshake and latte were great pairs for these dishes.
It started raining when we’re in the middle of eating and it gave that romantic vibe, like we’re actually eating somewhere in France 😂
Anyway, I highly recommend this place if you’ve...
Read moreGoule Galette is an absolute gem, and I can't recommend it enough – easily a five-star experience! This charming little spot has truly mastered the art of the French crepe, delivering both savory perfection and sweet indulgence.
Their savory crepes are simply outstanding – so incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. But let's talk about the sweet magic: the fresh strawberry and banana crepe with two scoops of ice cream and a dusting of icing sugar is pure bliss. It's a symphony of fresh fruit, creamy coldness, and that delicate sweetness that just hits all the right notes. And for the coffee lovers, their "magic coffee" is truly good. It's the perfect complement to their delicious crepes and adds to the cozy, relaxed vibe.
What really elevates the experience, however, is the staff. Every single person I encountered was super friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you step in.
The place itself is wonderfully cozy, with a lovely ambiance that transports you to a little corner of France. Plus, its location near the trams makes it incredibly convenient to get to. For authentic French crepes, a fantastic atmosphere, and genuinely lovely service, Goule Galette is a must-visit...
